Handmade Father’s Day Gift Idea
Hello everyone! It’s Vanessa from Tried & True again and I’m here to share this Typeface Memo Board. This is a fantastic handmade Father’s Day Gift idea you can make for your awesome dad or husband! Craft projects and Father’s Day don’t usually mix well (unless you’re a five year old!) but with the modern lines and practical functionality of this memo board, what guy wouldn’t appreciate this crafty gesture? Plus, you can hide a secret message in it and that totally has to win you some major guy points, right? Let’s get started…

Typeface Memo Board Tutorial
Supplies:
- 12″x4″ Wood Plank
- 2 Packages Wood Letters
- Wood Glue
- 2 Small Nails
- Spiral Notepad
- Strong Hole Punch (optional if notepad is already punched)
- Small piece of Leather or faux leather
- Small Pencil or Pen
- Sawtooth Metal Picture Hanger
Instructions:
1. Collect your supplies and begin to layout the first row of letters. You’re going to want to play with the letters a bit until you find the right combination to fit perfectly across the board. Make sure to allot space if you’re going to add a secret message.
2. Using either wood glue or a strong craft glue, begin adhering the letters to the board. I found it easiest if I glued down the first and last letter of each row before filling it in with the middle letters.
3. Once all the letters are in place, add nails where you want the notepad to go. If your notepad didn’t come with a hole, you’re either going to have to punch them or figure out another way to hang the paper. Hammer the frame hanger in place on the back of the memo board.
4. Fold and glue together the strip of leather (or pleather in this case!). You can either glue or nail in place. Add small pencil or pen and you’re done!
I wrestled with the idea of staining the secret message (“Best Dad Ever”) a different color but decided to keep it more discreet instead. That’s one of the great things about this project, there are so many different ways you could customize the memo board to make it a perfect Father’s Day gift for your guy!

I LOVE this – it would be perfect in my hubby’s man cave or garage! Love the simplicity of the letters and that pleather pencil holder.
