DIY Glitter Hairpins
With the holiday gift giving season just around the corner, now would be the perfect time to start planning for your homemade presents (or you could be like me and wait until the end of December!) I’m Vanessa Brady from Tried & True and I’m here to share this quick and inexpensive tutorial on how to make an easy holiday gift, DIY Glitter Hairpins. These are fabulous for girls to make for their friends this holiday season! The supplies are easy to find at any craft store. Supplies:
- glitter tape
- package of blank hairpins
- Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
- craft knife
Note: If glitter isn’t your thing (shock!), you can always use washi tape in it’s place for a non-glitter look. Apply an appropriate sized strip of tape to the top of each hairpin. Turn over and use a craft knife to trim away excess from each side.
Look at all those beautiful colors! To prevent the tape from peeling up, apply a thin layer of Dimensional Magic over the entire top. I highly suggest doing this while the clips are sandwiched between a scrap piece of paper (I used the wrapper they came in.) This will prevent you from accidentally sealing the clips shut. Don’t worry if the gel slides off the edges, you can just peel it away as the clips dry.
Once all the pieces have completely dried {takes a couple hours to dry}, all you need to do is print/cut the appropriate holiday tag and you’re ready to go! I’ve included some free printable gift tags for Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years, as well as the more general, “Happy Holidays.” Hope one of those fits your need!
I love how sweet and little these gifts are! They’re perfect as a stocking stuffer but can also easily fit inside of an envelope or card. I highly suggest you make a few extra because you’re definitely going to want to keep some for yourself!
