Easy Camera Strap Slipcover

Hello! It’s Brandy from Gluesticks. My trusty camera, of two years, recently called it quits. When I showed my new camera to my husband he said it looked weird without my bright strap cover that I had on it. I thought so too.

It needed a little personality and these strap covers are so quick and easy to make! A GREAT scrap fabric project.

2. You will need to start out with a strip of fabric 25″ x 5″.

3. I thought it would look nice to sew strips of coordinating fabrics together, but you could make this an even quicker project by just sticking with one piece (25″x5″ long).

4. Fold the longer (25″) lengths over 1/4″ and press. Fold each side (5″) over 1/2″. Press. Fold again 1/2″. Press again. The sides will now have a nice finished double fold and the longer sides will only have one.

5. Sew (hem) the shorter (5″) sides.  Lay your strap cover flat and position your camera strap on top, lining up just under your top fold. Fold the strap on half, bringing the bottom to the top and matching folded edges. Pin.

6. Stitch along side, making sure to not catch the actual camera strap in your stitches.

And that’s it! When you decided to swap it out for a new one all you have to do it slide this one off! If you decide that it is sliding too much or bunching at all after wear, you can sew the ends closed. Sew over the camera strap as well. Just use a seam ripper to remove the stitches when you decide to make a new one.
