Shabby Chic Hair Bow DIY
Hi, it’s Natalie from Doodlecraft!
This is a very bittersweet post for me since it’s my last as part of the Craftaholic Anonymous Team! But we just closed on a house, so I have lots of remodeling, decorating and building to do this year…check out my blog Doodlecraft for updates on our renovation.
Let’s make something pretty to wear for Valentine’s day!
Hair bows are so much fun–for girls of any age! A chiffon floral print paired with bold colors, marabou feathers and rhinestones is the perfect compliment to any outfit!
You will need:
- Chiffon Flower in floral print
- Marabou feather puff
- Chiffon rose
- Rhinestone button
- 2 Felt circles
- Two 1″ pieces of 1/4″ elastic
- Hot glue/gun
- Hairclip/headband
- A great bow has a combination of at 3-5 elements so anything you can substitute should still work great!
Hot glue the feather puff onto one felt circle…slightly off to one side.
Hot glue the chiffon rose onto the bottom edge…
And the chiffon floral onto the other side,
making a triangle of fun.
Add the rhinestone to the center of the floral flower.
Now cut 4 slits in the other felt circle like this:
Now take the elastic and the weave it through the
slits cut and hot glue the ends in place.
The other side should look like this, just hot glue it to the back of the first felt circle and let it cool.
Then slide your headband right through the elastic and wear it… or add a French clip, alligator clip or bobby pins… You can even slip a safety pin on and wear it as a brooch.
Or…get this: Get some fold over elastic and turn it into a wrist corsage for a High School dance!
Perfection! Totally versatile!
And looks fabulous! You can DIY your own flowers with fabric to match any outfit.
Pin it now, you’ll be so glad you did!
