Free SVG Cut File: Polka Dot Cactus Pouch
Hey guys! It’s Aki again from Minted Strawberry. I am loving all the cacti print I see trending nowadays and I am so eager to jump in on the bandwagon. And while I don’t think I’ll be rocking a green cactus-printed frock soon, I wanted to accessorize with something small so I made this gold cactus and polka dot pouch instead. It’s easy and fast and you can get a free cactus file to use as well, so what are you waiting for?
Supplies:
- Ready-made pouch
- Heat transfer vinyl (in metallic gold)
- Silhouette Cameo or Portrait
- Iron
- Template (download here)
Let’s start with a blank pouch. You can buy a ready-made one or easily make one yourself. I sewed up mine with a green zipper to compliment my cactus design.
To reduce HTV waste, you can size and cut a dummy template from regular paper until you get the size of the print that you want, before cutting it onto heat transfer vinyl. I initially sized mine to 4″ height, but ended up cutting it 5″ in height.
Next, cut it onto your heat transfer, making sure you mirror (although in this case it’s not as important as the cactus will still look like the cactus even when flipped on the other side). Weed your design.
Position your cactus onto your pouch. To stretch out the HTV more, I cut out mini circles around my cactus about 0.4″ in diameter for polka dots and placed them randomly on the pouch. Once you are happy with your placement, iron them down.
Peel away the protective plastic and you are done!
Now you have a trendy pouch in a matter of minutes! I think it was a good decision to use gold instead of green – it makes it look more chic. You can of course make this in other colors, or even use printable iron-on transfer paper!
My pouch is perfect for my keys, phone, wallet, sunnies and lip balm for when I don’t want to bring a bag – very convenient and so pretty.
