Last week I revealed my New Craft Room and some of you noticed the adorable coral vintage cart where I store my vinyl and ribbon. Well, I’m sharing all about that cute little cart’s makeover today! {click here to tour my craft room}
Vintage Cart Makeover
I absolutely love my adorable coral cart! Some people call it a milk cart, others call it a bar cart. I’m not sure exactly what kind of cart it is, but I have turned it into my official Vinyl Cart! The paint color is Juicy Melon by Americana Decor® in the Maxx Gloss line and it is the happiest coral color ever!
The sheen is high gloss and I was honestly a bit worried about it being too shiny because my style is a bit shabby chic. But I actually like the glossy finish! It fits perfectly in my craft room and adds the perfect amount of color. The finish feels incredibly hard now that it has cured. Which is good because that little cart sees a lot of action in my craft room!
Back when I first purchased my vintage cart at a thrift store, I had no idea how I would use it or let alone, what color to paint it!
How I did it
As you can see in my Instagram, the top was really damaged.
The Maxx Gloss paint has excellent settling properties, and so I actually did not sand the top or try to repair the damage prior to painting. I feel like I still got a good smooth finish.
- First I cleaned the cart by wiping down with a damp cloth and removing any grease with a degreaser.
2. Then I applied the Maxx Gloss paint in Juicy Melon with a small foam roller on the flat surfaces and a foam brush for the smaller, intricate areas.
3. I felt like the coverage was not as good as other paints. I needed 3 coats on most of the cart and still had a couple touch ups. With this paint, you need to allow the paint to almost completely dry before applying another coat of paint. The paint completely cures and hardens in 14 days.
You can find Americana Decor® Maxx Gloss paint online and in stores at Michaels, Jo-Anns, select Home Depot stores, and Meijer.
I painted the cart over a month ago, so the paint has fully cured and the smooth, glossy finish is to die for. The finish is lacquer-like and is resistant to most household cleaners. You can see the high gloss sheen below.
So there you have my cute little thrifted milk cart redone and all dolled up and in use in my craft room!

I have a one almost the same as yours but I call it a Tea Cart.
This cart is fabulous. The color is bright and refreshing and the piece would be a great addition to any craft room. I wish I could be lucky enough to find one!
