A few weeks ago, I showed off my Master Bathroom Makeover, which I absolutely love! Davis and I still sit and stare at our DIY luxury bathroom and have to pinch ourselves when we realize we get to use it every single day! One of our favorite projects in our bathroom makeover, was our DIY Floating Shelves.
DIY Floating Wood Shelves
These were the best decision we made for this bathroom. The three floating shelves help with storage, organization, and decorating. Seriously, they are awesome! The wood shelvers weren’t too hard to make either. We used the Shanty 2 Chic tutorial to make them. I added these large Rustic Hammered Nailheads to the shelves. The hammered nailheads are the perfect finishing touch! I was amazed at the difference they made to the look of the shelves. If you make floating wood shelves, I’d definitely recommend added them. The hammered nail heads cost about $1/each and are completely worth it!
Our bathroom lacks much storage space, so adding some shelving was the perfect solution. I used
a gray stain and then did a dark decorative glaze over the top to achieve a warm weathered gray look to the wood. I did not sand or distress after staining.
I still need to do a window treatment for our master bathroom window. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet. Window treatments are so hard! Or is it just me that struggles with them? ha! If you have any suggestions on what I should do for the window, I’m all ears! :)
Bathroom Before and After
Here is the bathroom before and after the shelves. The DIY floating shelve filled the empty space perfectly.
