Crochet Spider
Hi there, it’s San from Loopsan again, which means that there will be some crochet going on today :)
I’m not a huge fan of spiders. To be honest I really do my best to avoid them. But with Halloween coming up it was about time to create a spider I’m very happy to share my house with.
How to Crochet a Spider Tutorial
You’ll need:
- Acrylic or cotton DK yarn in black (I use DK yarn as its the most common in the UK, you can use worsted yarn instead but you might want to adjust your hook size)
- Size G/ 4 mm hook (if you’re using worsted yarn go up a hook size)
- Tapestry needle
- Poly-fill
- Wobbly eyes
Let’s get started:
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 st)
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 st)
Round 3: *2 sc, sc in next st*, 6 times (18 st)
Round 4: *2 sc, sc in next 2 st*, 6 times (24 st)
Round 5: *2 sc, sc in next 3 st*, 6 times (30 st)
Round 6: *2 sc, sc in next 4 st*, 6 times (36 st)
Round 7: *2 sc, sc in next 5 st*, 6 times (42 st)
Round 8-12: sc (dc) in each st around (42 st)
Round 13: *sc2tog , sc in next 5 st*, 6 times. (36 st)
Round 14: *sc2tog , sc in next 4 st*, 6 times. (30 st)
Round 15: *sc2tog , sc in next 3 st*, 6 times. (24 st)
Round 16: sc in next 3 st, *ch 13, 12 sl, sc in next 2 st*, 3 times, sc in next 6 st, *ch 13, 12 sl, sc in next 2 st*, 3 times, sc in last 3 st
Round 17: *sc2tog , sc in next 2 st*, 6 times. (18 st)
Round 18: *sc2tog , sc in next 1 st*, 6 times. (12 st)
add remaining stuffing.
Round 19: *sc2tog*, 6 times. (6 st)
fasten off and sew remaining hole close.
Nose
Make Magic ring, ch 1
Round 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5st)
Round 2-3: sc in each st around (5 st)
fasten off and attach to head
Now Scotty the crochet spider only needs his wobbly eyes to be finished
