How to Sew a Christmas Pom Pom Pillow

I love fun little ways to decorate for Christmas, especially when they are functional around the house!  The Christmas Pom Pom Pillow is an easy DIY sewing tutorial that will have you decking the halls in no time. Keep it for yourself, or give it as a gift – this easy Christmas craft is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face!

Christmas Pom Pom Pillow DIY

Materials Needed:

• Red or Green Fabric
• White Fabric
• White Pom Trim
• Polyfil, or pre-made pillow
• Basic Sewing Essentials

How to Sew a Pom Pom Pillow Tutorial:

*Please note, these instructions are for making a pillow that will NOT have an opening. For an easy envelope back pillow tutorial click here. 

ONE: Cut (2)  pieces of red / green fabric your desired length vs. width.

TWO: Take (1) of your cut pieces of fabric, and place white pom trim all around the edges. The bottom of the pom trim (the straight edge) should match up with the raw side edges of the fabric. Pin in place, and sew using a zipper foot.

THREE: Place your other fabric piece directly on top of pom fabric piece, right sides together – enclosing the poms. Pin all around the edges, leaving a 5 – 6″ opening along one of the side edges. Sew using your zipper foot.

FOUR: Turn right side out through opening, and push out all edges.

FIVE: Stuff with poly-fil or pillow form. Whipstitch opening closed.

SIX: Cut (2) pieces of 5″ Pom Trim.

Cut (1) 10″ Length  x  Width of fabric piece of white fabric.

SEVEN: Pin (1) Pom Trim to bottom side edge of white fabric. Sew using zipper foot, repeat for other side

EIGHT: Fold white fabric right sides together matching up all raw edges and enclosing the side pom trim. Pin all around, leaving a 7-8″ opening along the bottom center edge. Sew using a zipper foot.

Turn right side out and Press. Edge stitch around all edges, sewing the bottom opening closed.

Tie around pillow and you are finished!

You now have an adorable Christmas Pom Pillow perfect for your holiday decor! Even the dog likes it…
