Looking for EASY Last Minute Christmas decor for your home? This DIY Photo Christmas tree is a great way to show off your favorite photos from the year and utilize awkward wall space!
DIY Photo Christmas Tree with Twinkle Lights
It’s a really simple project that is so fun to do! We have this awkward wall space in our front entry that is narrow, but large enough that it needs to be decorated. And to top it off, it has a thermostat right in the middle at eye level. So it’s always a spot that is hard to decorate! So for my Canon post this month, I decided to jazz it up by turning it into a modern Photo Christmas Tree!
Psst…you can see more of my Pink Peony Christmas tree here {in the background above}.
It has been so fun to look at the photos as we walk by and remember the fun memories from this past year! I get lots of comments on visitors about it being a neat way to display photos. And I couldn’t agree more!
PLUS I know one of my New Years Resolutions is to print more pictures and so this helped me get a jump start on that!
I decided to print photos from my phone because I haven’t printed any of them in forever! Plus my Canon PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer makes it super easy to print photos from my phone.
I printed them in black and white because they were all taken in different lighting. This helped them look more uniform and look better together. Then I added some colorful felt balls to add some pops of color and interest.
How to Make DIY Photo Christmas Tree
Supplies:
- 4×6 Photo Paper
- Photo Printer {I use a Canon PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer for my photos. I love how easy it is to print directly from my phone!}
- Hammer
- Small Brads or Nails
- White Twinkle Lights with White Wire
- Hot Glue
- 25 Small White Clothespins
- 25 Colorful Felt Balls {like these ones}
- Print about 25 – 4×6 photos. I printed photos from my phone in black and white. This helps the photos go together since they are all so different.
2. Hot glue a felt ball to the end of each clothes pin.
3. Hammer small nails into the wall and string your twinkle lights around them to create a Christmas tree shape. Then using the clothespins, hang your photos from the wire between the lights.
Plug in your lights and you have a festive way to display your favorite photos this Christmas!

I love this simple, festive lighted tree! I’m definitely with you on getting more photos printed this year! I have a wall with a large mirror on it. I think I’ll try a version of this idea using the small, clear Command hooks directly on the mirror and frame. Double the twinkle and no holes in the wall! Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing this idea!
good idea to use a mirror! :)
This is beyond adorable! I love it! I’m definitely going to do something like this next year. I love the little pom poms on the clothespins. It’s such a nice pop of color with all the black and white photos. So cute! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!
