Happy happy Tuesday! If you’re looking for easy handmade Christmas gifts? Well, here are some adorable Pin Cushions that make perfect little gifts! They are so easy to make and have so much character!
Frame Pin Cushion
I used tiny decorative wood frames to make these cute DIY pin cushions! Pair the frames with colorful and fun fabric scraps and these little cuties scream personality! Plus they sit flat and sturdy in place. Oh, and did I mention they are super easy to make?!
Yep, these little frame pincushions are my newest craft kit! The kit includes 3 tiny unfinished wood frames and chipboard backing. The batting is optional so for those who already have batting or choose to use the frames as….frames, they can!
Look how cute they are! Your sewing friends will go nuts over these cuties! Wrap them up in cellophane with some bakers twine and a little gift tag and you have a fantastic handmade gift.
How to Make a Pin Cushion
supplies: tiny wood frame with chipboard backing, paint, batting, fabric
- Paint the wood frame using 2-3 coats of paint. {I used spray paint}
- Place the frame with the face down and place a 4″x5″ piece of fabric {scraps are perfect!} on top of the frame with right side down.
- Fold a 6″x8″ piece of batting into a small rectangle and insert where the opening in the frame is.
- Pull the edges of the fabric to pull out some of the wrinkles.
- Fold over the edges of the fabric and place the chipboard on top to conceal the raw edges, then fold over the metal tabs to secure in place.
*Tip from Alicia on Craftaholics Anonymous Facebook page: Use magnetic paint to help catch stray pins!
The Kits
Each kit includes: 3 tiny wood frames in 3 different styles, chipboard backing.
Optional: batting may be added to your kits.
You will need paint and a 4″x5″ piece of fabric for each pin cushion to complete the kit.
>>>You can purchase the Pin Cushion kits here. {KITS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE}
Thank you for stopping by today!

So cute! They would be awesome to hang on a wall next to someone’s sewing machine, wouldn’t they? Definitely better than losing pins all over the table… Thanks for sharing!
Love this easy idea! Would make cute gifts
This is such an awesome idea!! I tend to be in comfy places like my bed or sofa when I sew and my pin cushion tends to roll away. This is PERFECT!

Frames I like 5×12 and 3×3
Very clever! And so easily personalized. Thank you.
this is so easy! and it definitely looks adorable!
You could even glue a magnet on the back. That way you always know where it is and you don’t have to have it laying down!
Great idea, Caitlin!
Any chance there would be more kits available soon?
Cute idea! A few changes/additions I’d make would be to add magnets on the bottom, and I’d put steel wool in rather than batting, to help keep pins and needles sharpened. Great way to use up scraps of fabric (I knew I kept them for a reason!)
i love this idea! so, cute. and who doesnt need a pin cushion? but, where did you get your frames? i really want to know
i love this! who doesn’t need a pin cushion? where did you get your frames though. i would really love to make these.

I love this! I made one & then added a magnet to the back so that it could be stored above my work surface, on a metal board, when not in use.

Can you tell me where I can purchase the wood frames in these sizes?
Yes, please do share! I really want to make these and I can’t find frames like these anywhere!
Can you tell me where I can purchase the wood frames and/or what size they are?
fantastic idea = you could also place little rubber circles on the bottom to keep pincushion from slipping off the table.
I am interested in where I can find the mini unfinished frames
For the pin cushions! Absolutely precious!!
