Michaels Annual Dream Tree Challenge #JustAddMichaels

This post is proudly brought to you by Michaels. All opinions are mine!

Yep, I’m the crazy one putting up her Christmas tree BEFORE Halloween….but for good reason! I’m in this year’s Annual Dream Tree Challenge sponsored by Michaels! I’m so excited! And nervous. I usually only get to decorate the top half of my Christmas tree thanks to having small kids the last couple years. So just being able to decorate the entire Christmas tree this year will be a treat! But I plan to go all out. I mean, All. Out.

michaelsMy cute little sidekick accompanied me on some Christmas Tree shopping yesterday. {isn’t she getting so big?!} It feels weird to be scouring Christmas decor so early in the year, but I totally came home and sang, “Jingle Bells” to my son at bed time. So, its starting to feel like Christmas around here and I’m kinda loving it! haha

I fell in love with the new stenciled Christmas burlap that Michaels just stocked. Umm, yeah, you better believe you will see it on my Dream Christmas tree!

More pics from yesterday’s shopping trip….

photo 2Check out those awesome laser cut wood snowflakes. They are to die for!

My Michaels store has a couple isles that are waiting to be filled with Christmas goodies, so I plan on stalking those shelves to see other goodies I can find.

Michaels has a special tree event going on November 3-9. Did you know that every Christmas tree purchased at Michaels comes with a 5 year tree warranty and a 2 year warranty on the lights? Trees are an investment and I think its great they stand behind them like that! They have a huge selection of pre-lit high-tip count artificial trees ranging from 4 feet tall to 9 feet an they come in all shapes and different color options. Michaels is a great place to find an artificial tree!

I have big plans for my ultimate Dream Christmas Tree! I am debating between two very different styles….and I’m still not sure which one I’ll run with yet, but I need to decide soon! I’ll be posting my Dream Tree on Nov. 1, 2013. If you want to follow along the process, check out my Instragram feed or follow the hashtag #JustAddMichaels to see what other contestants are doing!

So, if you could decorate your Christmas Tree any way you wanted, what would you put on your Tree?

Disclosure: I am receiving free product to decorate my tree.

Oh how fun is that!!! I would do an all white decorations if I could. Vintage white ornaments & white lights. But alas we have Christmas colored ornaments mixed in with family ones because I get overruled every year. Ideally I would love to have one tree with all those family memory decorations & then several other trees in other rooms- each with their own theme. I might put my hubs in the asylum if I did that though. :)

What a fun thing! Hope you aren’t bored with it by the time Christmas gets here, lol…maybe you can put it in the garage after photos and bring it back inside in December!

I always have been non traditional in colors when decorating my tree…of late it has been shabby chic style (ok so yes, I have a pink tree too! lol)

    Cannot wait to see yours!

One year, hubby and I were PCS’d just before the holidays, and we didn’t have ANY decorations because our furniture hadn’t been shipped yet. That year we did a “theme” and only used red, white, and gold. We got a cheap white tree, red and white lights, and found red and gold ornaments. That was probably one of my favorite trees ever! We still reminisce about how awesome that tree was. I still have the decorations and they have such wonderful memories attached.

I love color. BRIGHT AND SHINY colors. Bold lights, that have to TWINKLE, and colorful ornaments. Every year we bring out the colorful BEANIE BABIES I collected years ago. They sit on white clouds and watch all the festivities. My kids will NOT let me use anything else (when I tried to retire them years ago). They are teens now and we have been using the bears for 16 years.

I also have an angel tree, but because of Kids and Cat, most of the angels over the years have broken.

My tree I have always wanted, is homemade. Colorful homemade decorations, with bright tinsel and traditional popcorn and cranberries strung. All the ornaments made by others (hand made) with the only requirement being they have to look home made. I am hoping by the time I have grandbabies, this will happen!

I just saw this burlap at lunch time today and I’m dying for a project to use it for! Although, it just might become garland on my tree too LOL

I just love a more traditional Christmas tree with a twist. I love white lights and lots of sparkle!!! I usually go with glass, silver, and red as my base ornaments and add in family favorites. I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas! Though if I started now, my husband would kill me. :) He says I have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. :( Can’t wait to drink eggnog and decorate that tree! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!!!

I love my tree right now – it is sort of rustic, with lots of red, plaid, pine cones, etc. but from your pics, I’m going to have to take a little trip to Michaels!

I always put my tree up in the beginning of Nov. That way the effort I had to exert is enjoyed throughout the whole holiday. It is ready for all the holiday events we have and when the new year comes I am ready to put it away for another 10 months. I love enjoying it through the WHOLE season!

I am like you, so very many choices for tree decorating: so few trees. It is hard to decided. I love a traditional tree with old vintage ornaments and treasures made by my children or family.

I did a baby tree when my first child was born. Lovely and full of cherished ornaments.

This year I would love to do an angel tree. The story of our Saviors birth began with the message from an angel.
