My *trophy husband* Davis is turning the big
THREE- ZERO today.
yup. he’s getting old on me. good thing i’ll never hit 30 haha.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVIS!
i love you!
anyways, in honor of Davis’s b-day, i am re-posting the recipe for his fave treat which he requests for his b-day every year….my Chewy Brownies. i actually do not like chocolate {and sadly yes, my b-day is on the biggest chocolate holiday of the year, Valentine’s day. i know, i know. i’m weird.} i have a secret trick to making them, ok, so it was more of a *happy accident*….but it makes the most oooey gooey chocolately brownies you’ve ever tasted! errr….. that’s at least what Davis says…i’ve actually never tasted them….
{all you amazing cooks, you probably already know this trick, but for me, a super amateur cook, i was delighted when i figured it out;}
Best Brownie Recipe
Chewy Brownies
1 2/3 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter, no substitute
2 tablespoon water
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
3/4 cups cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
chocolate chips to sprinkle on the top(optional)
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine sugar, butter, and water. Stir in eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture. Stir until combined. Pour into a greased 9″x9″ pan and cook for 32-38 minutes or until toothpick comes out still slightly gooey at the bottom of the toothpick.
*My secret trick is the smaller pan (9″x9″ instead of 13″x9″) and to take them out of the oven when the brownies are still a bit gooey on the inside. This makes super moist, super thick brownies!*
WARNING: these brownies are very rich!! :)
happy crafting,
linda

Those brownies look delicious! I use the same trick–small pan, and take them out just before you think they're done. Yum!
Don't worry, I'll love chocolate enough for the both of us. Those brownies DO look delicious! I can't wait to make some. Thanks for sharing the your recipe. I hope your hubby has a great day!

Wishing the Mister a wonderful Birthday. Thanks for the recipe and tip as my daughters love brownies. But I must say I never developed a taste for them.
i always double my brownie batches which make them very moist and thick. everyone thinks i make the best brownies and little did they know all they had to do was double the batch. never thought of using a smaller pan before though. happy birthday to the hubbs.
Hey! I love the name Davis! If we ever have a son, that's what I want to name him! Happy Birthday!

My pregnant self has been obsessing about these brownies all day. I have other sweets (including 3/4 of a chocolate cake) but I want these brownies so badly today. It's been snowing. I have no excuse. I think I'm going to have to make them!
Something just made me think of these, I haven’t made them in 8 or 9 years, but I remember them being so good. In the oven now!
I might even be the comment above from 1/26/2011 😂
