Contributors? i need your input!

i sincerely care about what you ladies think and i have listened to your great advice in the past {did you notice  i took off the ad in my header?!} and so i wanted to get your input on having regular blog contributors on Craftaholics Anonymous. its an issue i have gone back and forth on for months now, and i simply don’t know what to do!

i love the intimate relationship i have with each of you as the only author of this blog {yes i do have an occ. guest blogger!} but when you come to Craftaholics Anonymous, you know i am the one yakking my head off about my newest craft or being stranded on an island haha. there’s no guessing who’s talking to you. and you know who i am. {i’m the one with her picture plastered to the top of the blog. ahem.} if i started having regular contributors, i’m afraid i would lose some of my connection with you. {yes, i’m selfish! you guys mean a lot to me! i blog for friends, not money or fame.}

one huge reason i lean towards not having regular contributors is, i hate going to a blog and not knowing who is talking to me. waiting until the very end of the post to find out or worse, never figuring out which of the 10 authors was posting that day drives me crazy!! when i read a blog, i like to know who’s talking to me because i like to have their pretty little talking face in my head as i read. {am i weird?} so if i don’t know know who’s talking, i feel lost and distracted when i read the post.

on the flip side, you get multiple creative minds sharing awesome ideas with a wide range of styles.

AND….

i won’t lie, its getting tougher and tougher to keep up with everything with how fast Craftaholics Anonymous has grown {in less than 2 years!! more on that later!!!} it honestly, blows.my.mind. at how big my blog has grown. i feel beyond blessed and so flattered!

BUT…..

but i’m having a difficult time keeping up with everything. my inbox is like a war zone each day. i’ve enlisted Davis’s help with a few small things, which has helped. but, well, he’s not the most computer oriented person. {teeth are more his style}

SO…

what are your honest thoughts?

would you like to see regular contributors on Craftaholics Anonymous? or would you rather keep things the way they are and just understand that i may post a little less frequently?

please share your thoughts and insights!

Hi! I'm Linda, the craft addict behind Craftaholics Anonymous®, a craft blog. Crafting is cheaper than therapy, right? When I'm not DIYing something, I can be found taxiing around our 4 crazy kids or working out. Or shoe shopping... because you can never have too many shoes! Happy crafting! ♥

    I personally subscribe to tons of different blogs some because of the new and different things they bring to the table but there are some (you are one) that I subscribe to because its “just you”

    Do what makes life more meaningful for your family life. I have kids from 26 to 5. I homeschoo;ed 18 yrs andi’ve tried to spend plenty of time with them and when I look back I would have reduced even more outside activities for even more time with them. There’s never enough! i’ve never started a blog for that reason though I’d like to try. I love looking at yours and others too! Love :)

    My vote is to keep it you. With that said, I understand the need to have more time for family/other stuff, so maybe you could do an occasional blog swap. I’m okay with fewer posts…sometimes blogs get so diluted and it is hard to remember where that *great* inspiration came from when there are so many guest posts. Take care of your family first. Blog less. I like you for you.

    I think it would be better to haave fewer post than to hear from tons of other people. We come here for Linda! You rock!

    so…..i think you should limit guest bloggers. there are SO many blogs that compile different bloggers ideas…which is awesome….but more and more it just seems like they are the same handful of blogs sharing the same ideas….so doesn’t that defeat the purpose of having new ideas? i like hearing your voice. i like knowing your face. actually we are pretend friends. and i like that.pretend because i know you and you don’t know me. :D ha. but i can live with that. i think you should focus on ways that you could organize to help manage the time that the blog takes away from your family and then move forward. hey i would even help you…because remember we are friends.

    remember what is MOST important in this process. and make it happen. good luck in finding the time and resources in which ever way you choose, but stay true to yourself because it has been your ideas that have caused so much growth and success thus far. good luck, friend. :D

      Excellent point, Jessica! There are loads of blogs that just feature the same ideas over and over. I hadn’t thought of that, but you are so right! And I love that we are pretend friends! lol love it. Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it! I think I’m going to keep it just me and do what I can.
      thank you for stopping by!
      happy crafting,

    I love your blog because I like it the way it is with your thoughts, ideas and creative projects. I think it’s good to have contributors now and then but mainly I come here because of you. That’s what keeps me coming back. Honestly, I would rather see fewer posts than have lots of posts from other people.

    I think as long as you let the readers know up front who is talking or sharing, then it is not confusing. I know when we have guest designers on the blog we always like to have them introduce themselves first, or we will write a little intro before their post. Blogging takes a lot of time and family should always come first. Whatever you decide it will be the right choice for you and for this blog ;)

    I think the bigger issue is not having different voices and being confused, but getting to a point where you are too busy to provide the fabulous content that your readers come here for. Or worse yet, making too many sacrifices in your personal life to keep your blog up. I say DEFINITELY add some contributors. Like you said, it is a great way to get other styles, ideas, and opinions into the mix. You can have a little bio/photo at the TOP of each post or have writers introduce themselves so everyone knows who is talking. It will ease up some time for you to create even more great crafts!

    I love your blog just the way it is, but completely understand the lack of time in a day while having a family. I think you could do both things; limit the number of post a week, and have the occasional guest post. That way you get the best of both worlds. But as other people have said, I think it need to be consistent. Like you could post two or three times a week on the same days, and then ever two weeks you could have a guest post on a Friday or something. You do a great job, Linda! Whatever you decide I will still be around!

    Blogging is supposed to be fun, and if you are feeling overwhelmed by it, I think either solution is completely viable option. If you feel like you need to keep up a certain number of posts per week, etc. then I think having some other contributors would help ease the burden of that on you. You could have a certain day(s) of the week that is for guest posts which would lead to less confusion. If you chose to post less often, and keep it just you, that is completely understandable as well. I know, I for one, would not stop reading your blog just because there were less posts! Good luck on figuring out what to do!
