DIY St Patrick's Day sign :: Rainbow felt balls

Cute, easy, and colorful. LOVE it! The pre-made white wood plaque makes this sign incredibly easy to make. I found it at Michaels. They had other wood plaques, but I liked that this one was already painted white AND distressed AND had a loop to hang it with. All very helpful in making this a fast craft project.

Supplies:

  • 7 – 1″ diameter Felt Balls in Rainbow colors
  • Foam Brush
  • White Washed Wood Plaque {Mine is from Michaels}
  • Green Craft Paint {I used Avocado by Americana}
  • Metallic Gold Craft Paint {I used Bright Metallic Paint by DecoArt|
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Cotton Swab
  • Needle and thread
  • 5″ Shamrock Stencil {I cut a vinyl stencil with my Silhouette Cameo}

How to make St patricks day sign tutorial

  1. Place your stencil onto the wood plaque and paint green. I only did one coat to maintain the distressed look of the plaque.

2. While the paint dries, use the needle and thread to string your rainbow ball garland in rainbow order. {Good ol’ ROYGBIV!}

3. Using the cotton swab, carefully paint gold polka dots around the shamrock. Allow paint to dry. If you’re impatient like me and/or you live in a humid climate {I am both. ha!}, you can blast it with your hair dryer for a few seconds :)

4. Hot glue the ends of the rainbow ball garland to the back of the plaque. Then make sure the balls are spaced evenly apart and you’re done!
