Rustic Marquee Christmas Tree

I am so excited to share my Rustic Marquee Christmas Tree with you! My good friend, Cindi and I have been working on this for a couple weeks now and I just LOVE how it turned out! I think you’ll like it too!

Rustic Marquee Christmas Tree

This post is brought to you by Michaels. As always, all opinions are mine! For a complete statement, please read my Disclosure page.

The idea for this tree came from want to incorporate marquee letter signs onto my Christmas Tree. Then while I was shopping at Michaels, I found these amazing rustic marquee letters that were absolutely perfect! Then we added plaid, little woodland creatures, and lots of textures. And this Christmas Tree is simply stunning! Rustic Marquee Christmas Tree Some of my favorite things on the tree are the sprigs of tiny pinecones. They have a little “snow” on them and the way they hang couldn’t be  more perfect! rustic-marquee-christmas-tree

You can see more of the details from this side shot. We used a variety of ornaments and materials to add depth and texture to the tree. There is metal, wood, fabric, twine, yarn, twigs, and ceramic.

Woodland Christmas Tree

I was set on putting my tree in a basket or metal tub. Cindi and I found the perfect sized basket in Michaels. Look at that weave!! We removed the lid to the basket and inserted the tree stand into it and it was a match made in heaven. The tree fits just right in the basket! It was like they were made for each other! If you’re looking for the perfect tree basket, run to Michaels!

And did you notice the most nobel stags? They’re so lovely! I just had to share this picture of them!

gift-wrap-idea

We added some fun “faux presents” under our tree for this photo shoot. {the kiddos were SO disappointed to find out NOTHING was in the boxes! And yes, my 5 year old tried opening one to see if I was telling the truth lol.} We snipped sprigs of evergreen to decorate our rustic Christmas Wrapping.

Here’s a close up of the marquees that inspired this Christmas tree. They spell out, “Noel”. I attached the marquee signs to the tree by putting a branch through the hanger on the back and bending the branch backwards to loop the hanger. They’ve stayed on just fine for over a week now.

*If you do add marquee signs to your Christmas tree, I would highly recommend tethering your tree to the wall so that it does not fall on anyone or anything. The weight of the marquee signs can make your tree tip easier. And with kids and pets {and adults!} around, trees are sure to get bumped.

DIY-Twine-ornament

Cindi and I added twine, rope, and yarn to large clear ornaments for fun texture. These are super duper easy to DIY! Simply wrap the twine or yarn around your hand until it looks about the size of the ornament. Then stuff into the empty ornament and put the ornament top back on. So easy, but they look so rustic and awesome!

Love these adorable woodland picks! There are mice, birds, rabbits, squirrels, and more. All so cute!

deer-ornament

I love deer and this sheet metal deer ornament makes my heart pitter patter.

We used bare wood ornaments and left them just the way they were. We debated staining them, but we liked the contrast of the light wood with the other dark elements we used.

And let’s chat about that red plaid ribbon. Its to die for!! Its the perfect rustic plaid that looks so cozy and inviting. Love. It!

nativity

This is my favorite nativity set and it goes perfectly with my rustic marquee christmas tree. {yes, that is pen marks you see. Kids always have to leave their mark on everything, don’t they? LOL And while we’re talking about it, Joseph’s staff is being held together by tape. #KeepingItReal}

Absolutely love this tree! I want to do this for my tree this year. Can I ask you where you got your ribbon from? Also what size is your basket? I have a 9ft Christmas tree and am wondering what size I need to fit this tree.
    Thank you and great job!

Hi Joselyn, The ribbon is from Michaels. My basket was about 2’x3′. You’ll want to measure the stand for your tree and then get a box that will fit around that. :)
