May’s Craftaholic of the Month- Michele from A Little Tipsy

Michele from A Little Tipsy

i’m stoked to introduce you to this May’s Craftaholic of the Month, Michele from A Little Tipsy. Michele and i go way back. well, kind of. she was one of my first “Bloggy Friends” when i started Craftaholics Anonymous. i think we did a blog swap ages ago and that’s when we figured out that we both grew up in the same little town in Northern Utah AND our moms work together AND her mom was my 7th grade teacher. ummm, yea, small world!! i finally got to meet Michele in real life at Creative Estates in April. it was fun to meet in her person. she’s a riot! anyways, here’s my “Craftaholic Therapy Session” with Michele…..

1. How long have you suffered from Craftaholicism? and how does it affect those around you?

I am not going to lie I am somewhat of a newbie to the Craftaholic scene. My mother is not a crafter, at all. I think it all started when I was pregnant with my first little boy almost four years ago and I hit the nesting stage. I needed to make everything perfect and I found myself painting the nursery and making all sorts of decor and baby items and I just could not stop. Now, if I see something I like I think “I bet I could make that” and my family knows that if they have some random bottle, fabric scrap, or sturdy box I will most likely want it for a project.

2. What crafting medium is your biggest weakness?

I’m going to have to say spray paint. It can so quickly turn the worst thrift store eye sore in to something really beautiful, fun or whimsical. Plus, it is so easy! I am so glad spray paint weather is almost here to stay!!

3. How would your hubby rate the severity of your Craftaholicism on a scale of 1 to 10? {1 being Michele crafts what? and 10 being Michele should be admitted to Craft Rehab yesterday}

Funny you should ask. My hubby swore his whole life that his wife would not do crafts. At one time his mom owned a craft store in their small town and he has memories of coming out to the valley to the big crafts stores for supplies for HOURS. I asked him what he would rate me and he said a four. I guess, like many an addict, I hide it well. :) (Literally, there is a plastic bin in the garage of supplies. Shhh.)

4. If you were one of your crafts, which one would you be and why?

I would be my Popcorn Popping window. I am inspired by nature, but childish at times. I like to be honest and transparent with people and love things that are economical and beautiful. I am traditional, but with character.

5. If you go for long periods of time without crafting, what happens to your mental well being?

I think most who will read this will understand that creating is a total outlet for me. It gives me a break from what can turn in to the daily drudgery of laundry, diapers and meal prep and lets me use the higher portions of my brain function. My mental well being would surely take a turn for the worst and my poor family would be starring at their glassy eyed mom in her house coat wondering what happened to the woman who used to be fun.
after our little therapy session, i did a little research on my own to collect evidence of Michele’s Craftaholism and here’s what i found…..
so Craftaholics, what do you think? is Michele a curable Craftaholic? ;o)
head over to A Little Tipsy and let her know that she’s not alone in her Craftaholism!

Hi! I'm Linda, the craft addict behind Craftaholics Anonymous®, a craft blog. Crafting is cheaper than therapy, right? When I'm not DIYing something, I can be found taxiing around our 4 crazy kids or working out. Or shoe shopping... because you can never have too many shoes! Happy crafting! ♥
