Time Off

Happy Monday, everyone! Normally I have a fabulous tutorial or craft to share with you on Mondays, but today I do not. I need to take some time off from blogging this week. That’s not saying you won’t see me, I’ll be on Facebook and other social media sites. But I just need some time off. I’ve gone full steam ahead without more than a day or two off since my second monkey was born, 16 months ago.

And I’ll be honest, I’ve been going through a bit of a rough patch in my personal life. Nothing big, promise. Just dealing with stuff.

And then having a couple mean commenters last week, was the last straw for me.

Don’t worry, I’m totally fine. I just need  a quick breather to clear my head. I’m sure I’ll be refreshed and ready to go after a couple days.

Thank you for being patient with me and for reading Craftaholics Anonymous. It really does mean the world to me.

See you soon!

happy crafting,

linda

Enjoy your break — a mom needs to rest! I can’t believe you’be been going full steam ahead since your younger son was born — that’s insane!!! You deserve a break. Enjoy it!!

The last time I felt like I needed a major break, I went from blogging 5 days a week to just 2 or 3, and I feel much better now! :)

You are very wise to take a break when you know you need it! I feel the same way from time to time. My grandmother passed away yesterday, and I had to line up some guest posts for the next few days. Honestly, part of me thought of lining up a few extras, just to have a real break when I get home. :s

I hope you have a chance to relax and rejuvenate. I bet your creative juices will be flowing even stronger after you’ve given your mind and body a rest. :)

I hope your little break gives you just what you need.

Awe, Linda, TOTALLY understand!! Catch your breath, gather your thoughts, spend some extra quality time with your precious family. We will still be here!! So sorry about the mean comments. I wish our comment moderator would recognize some mean people!! ;) I hope you have a WONDERFULLY blessed week!! See you soon!!

    Hugs,
    Michelle

I had a similar “cutting back” realization this weekend too! It really does feel so much better to get rid of the things I can’t control. Hoping you are taking good care of yourself and your family! Don’t worry, we’ll be here when you get back! Big hugs!!

  6. 7

we’ll look forward to seeing you when you return! rest up > breathe > sigh & we’ll see you soon! xo

I enjoy reading your blog and know that it requires a lot of time & effort to do all that you do. I don’t understand how people can be so mean in the blogging community. Have a nice break. :)

Linda, so sorry to hear someone was mean in their comments — how awful and petty of them! I mainly lurk here, but just wanted to send some support over the web. You run SUCH an awesome blog and with two little ones, too. I don’t know how you do it all! Take time for yourself and I hope things get better real soon.

Mean comments? That’s terrible. Don’t people know when they should just keep their mouth shut? Anyways, I LOVE your site!!! Love your posts! You help inspire me to get crafty! Thanks for all you do and ENJOY your time off!

It is good to have moderation in all things….balance. I know how much time it takes to put together good blog posts and I’ve wondered at times how those of you who post every day manage to pull it all together – especially when you have young families. Your family is your priority – and for them – YOU are a priority – we’ll be here whenever you show up and glad to see you….even if it’s every other day or 2-3 times a week….. seek for Balance and you’ll see good things. Hugs!

One of the best things about doing something creative with our lives is that we can fit the time we devote to it around the demands of our lives. If you need a break, you owe it to your creative process to take one!

I hope that the rough patch is smoothed over soon!

I have a troll on my little blog that has been leaving mean comments almost every day for over a month now. It really knocked me off my game at first! But once my blogging friends helped me realize that the people who do these things are just trying to dim our lights and diminish our joy, I got over it. Each comment still feels like a gut punch, but now I just delete it and move on.

    Enjoy your break!

    xo, Anita

Aw, don’t let small minded people who take out their external frustrations on fab people that they are slightly jealous of over the internet get you down! It’s easy when you’re having a rough patch to have that be a straw that broke the camel’s back… but it’s not a straw, it’s a flea. A lonely little flea. A finger flick to the delete button and a long bubble bath and goodbye, flea!
I’ve only ever recieved one nasty comment, and it was just random blather full of vitrol, nothing ‘personal’ even if it was meant to be. I wound up laughing it off. But I know some of the bullies pick apart things like parenting and stuff, low blows and weak points that are hard to shake off. Head up and remember, whatever they said, they just spent however much time firstly reading your blog, and then typing out that nonsense. Often slowly and with long, wordy posts. So now you know what THEY are doing with THEIR time. Tearing down others. Imagine what they must be like in real life! I know a few people like that. They inspire no one and nothing and leave a bad taste in the mouths of those who have to encounter them, and get more bitter by the day as they wonder why noone wants to spend time with them. Don’t feel torn down, feel pity.

    Linda,
Whose being mean to you? Ugh, not nice. I took some time off the last couple of days and trust me it was needed and really has helped. You deserve it. Take the time to clear your head. We’ll all still be here when you get back. Just remember you are AWESOME!Take care and rest up. Lesley

Oh, enjoy your time off!!!! I hope you have a wonderful week.

Good for you! Take a big break, and we’ll be here when you’re ready. Mean people suck. And also, it’s only fun to craft when you feel like it, and I’m sure it sucks big time to feel like you have to craft to keep the ole blog rolling.

I hope you feel refreshed and wanting to do your thang. Love ya!

  17. 21

Please take care of yourself sweetie
So sad to hear you had mean commentators-don’t understand why people have to take the time to do that.
    hugs

I have your site bookmarked because I enjoy it so much! I mainly just lurk, but I felt this situation requires some positive thoughts.

I am definitely someone who needs a break from time to time, and I don’t even have children. Please take all the time you need, and I will continue to check back.

    Take Care!

Hope you enjoy your time off, & come back feeling renewed and refreshed. It’s too bad about the negative commenters. My feeling is that you can always find something positive to say, but if you are so negative that you can’t, just don’t say anything. I’m always so appreciated of all the talent that is just abounding here in blogland & truly do not understand those who seem to lose sight of that. Enjoy your time!

I started off this year on full steam and have had to cut back as well. Good for you for not “running faster” than you are able so you don’t completely burn out.. I love your blog so please don’t focus on the haters and know that there are thousands of us that support you and appreciate all you put into sharing your life with us.

  24. 28

Everyone deserves some time off. :) And dont let the negative people get to you. That’s what they are trying to do. Just ignore them and move on.

  25. 29

Sorry you are having a rough time! Everyone deserves some time off. It is the best thing to do to say “no” when you just can’t add one more thing to your plate. Hope things settle down for you soon! :)

  26. 30

Take all the time you need! Boo for stinky commenters!!

Oh no, Linda! We’ll miss you! But I honestly hope that the break will rejuvenate you! Keep your head on high, a couple of bully/rude people mean nothing to the hundreds who love you, your website and your corkiness. We need more people like you!! ;) Hope to see you soon, but when you come back take it easy, don’t go like crazy again. Your little monkeys need a strong mommy :) Hughs and blessings on your way!

  34. 38

Go get refreshed. The good thing about friends is that they’re always waiting when you’re ready. You are fabulous!

I’m sorry that you had some mean comments. I hope that it was just a misunderstanding and not that they were trying to be mean. That would be horrible–you seem so sweet!

    “See” you soon….

You know, after getting your emails and reading your blog for the past couple years, I kind of feel like I know you….. funny how that is isn’t it? You share so much about yourself and your family, and I appreciate how you put yourself out there for us. Take a break, enjoy the kids, you know how quickly they grow! Pace yourself, find balance and know that we all still be here when you return. Your blog is a little piece of calm and quiet during my day, a mini break of sorts. So, the least I can do is thank you for your time and giving me just the excuse I need to stop and breathe for a few minutes while I read your posts and nose around all the tutorials and recipes and such. ENJOY the time off….see you soon!

  37. 41

Take time, refresh. Take a walk and get inspired. Search your children’s eyes and find the wonder.

I look forward to your blog and will miss your update but keeping you in balance is most important. Sorry there seems to be several bad apples in the bunch that have to ‘try’ to spoil the fun for the rest of us. Shake it off.

Linda, I think you are amazing!!!

  40. 44

Aww I’m sad to hear about mean comments… I don’t know why people do that. The break is exactly what you need , I did a similar thing recently when I was dealing with ‘stuff’…I just couldn’t find anything positive to share so I took a break. Enjoy your little one and come back when you are feeling healed.

  41. 45

have a wonderful break! Sometimes a day off is needed and I can’t believe how much you post!

  42. 46

I hope that taking a breather leaves you feeling refreshed and renewed. God bless!

Everyone needs a break lady! and make sure you schedule your next break in sooner, 16 months straight? Girl you’re crazy! ; ) kick your feet up and relax you greatly deserve it!

  46. 50

Take a break! No one (smart) will fault you for it. Delete the meanies and take a breather. I KNOW it hurts when people comment mean things on your blog but delete them and don’t think about it again. They are not worth your time. You are so talented and passionate. I strive to be like you as a blogger. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your posts after your break. Take as long as you need :)
