My Craft Room

I am so excited to give you a tour of my new Craft Room! We moved into a new house this summer and I claimed the extra bedroom for my craft room. At first this bedroom was the “catch all” room and complete train wreck {as you can see in this before picture.}  After months of planning and many hours later, I created my dream craft room. {see my inspiration board here}

Welcome to My Dream Craft Room

craft room

I LOVE it! Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the yellow chandelier. killer. {$3 find at the thrift store + yellow spray paint} and my crib spring turned inspiration board. perfect. Gray stenciled wall. to die for. And the most drool worthy craft room storage boxes from The Original Scrapbox. amazing. This my friends, is a dream come true for me!

fabric organization

In case you didn’t know, I’m a fabric hoarder. There is 60+ yards of fabric on the rod alone. {yes, i have my fave fabric shops on speed dial. haha} Davis made the bottom shelf unit from an old book shelf we found on the side of the road. we turned it on its side, added cubbies, and painted it white. {more details on this transformation to come.}

ideas for a craft room

I heart these colors.

scrapbox sewing box

This is the Sewing Box from the Original Scrapbox. This little box of magic unfolds into an amazing sewing station. It fits both my sewing machines and some storage.

Some of you may recognize that blue chair from this post.

craft desk

I have the EZ View Desk in the center of the room with 2 upholstered bar stools {more on those later}. I also got the extra set of drawers to make the desk higher {who doesn’t love a few extra drawers!} it makes the desk the perfect height to stand at and work. Oh and the see through top is very handy!

craft room organization

I think this is my fave work station. The Work Box is such an awesome piece! Its rather large, but it holds SO much! I love how it has so many different sized cubbies + a small table. This is the perfect place for my Cameo because there is a small hole in the back so I can plug it in. So now all I have to do is hook up my laptop and cut away! And icing on the cake, this box is on wheels and is really easy to move. {I moved that large hunk of awesomeness all around the room….by myself…..to determine the exact right spot for it. no lie.}

craft room storage

And lastly, the Craft Box. This is a great storage box. It is smaller than the Work Box, but it also has a pull up table top and holes in the back so that you can plug in your crafting tools. {glue gun, cutting tool, computer, etc} This box is not on wheels and so its harder to move around than the much larger Work Box. And I wish this one had a few more bin sizes. This is an excellent storage box, I just think I prefer the larger Work Box because its easier to use and has more options for storage.

crib spring craft idea

I gave my old crib spring a fresh coat of paint. Now i am using it as my inspiration board to hang pictures and items that inspire me. This corner of the room is my fabric cutting station. I love all the great natural lighting in this corner. Its great for taking pictures for all my tutorials. The white desk is my original craft desk that I started out with. I got when we moved to Viriginia 5 years ago. The turquoise dish is an vintage pyrex dish. {love the colors of vintage pyrex!} You’ll notice i have a few of them around the room.

I adore vintage dishes! {remember my milk glass plate wall?}

ideas to store ribbon

I was stumped on how to organize my ribbon. Half of it was on spools and half of it was not. Thanks to the lovely ladies on Craftaholics Anonymous Facebook page, I found the perfect way to store my ribbon. {check this comment thread for some great ideas and links!}

craft room organization

I just love being organized. It is so refreshing! After the chaos of moving this summer, its rejuvenating to finally feel organized and know where all my crafting supplies are.

craft room decor

I tried to use my crafting supplies to decorate my craft room instead of hiding them all away. I feel that the colors and textures of my crafting supplies are an asset to the room and help inspire my creativity.

I am planning to do a video tour of my craft room over Thanksgiving so you ladies can get a real visual tour of the layout. Just looking at pictures can be difficult to get a real feel for a room, so I’m going to try my hand at making a guided tour video. we’ll see how it goes! lol

CRAFT ROOM SHOUT OUTS: First, I want to thank Davis {the hubster} for all of his help and support in making my dream craft room a reality. He spent hours along side me working in my craft room. And for the record, he stenciled that gorgeous wall. all by himself. I love that man!

Second, huge thank you to The Original Scrapbox for providing me with the most amazing storage boxes known to crafters! Their products are high quality and designed with the crafter in mind. huge fan here. keep reading for a chance to win one of their products!

Third, thank you to my good friend, Cara for taking most of the pictures in this post. The dismal cloudy day + my old camera would not have done this room justice.

Watch a video tour of my craft room.

disclosure: i received free products from The Original Scrapbox to review. i was in no way obligated to give a good review. all opinions are 100%. please see my disclosure page for a complete statement.

    I am sitting here absolutely speachless! As a single mum, I had to rely on my girls for help to renovate my studio space (9, 5 & 2yrs.) I think my most repeated statement during construction was, “Girls, it’s only helping if you’re HELPING.” hee hee.
    We had to use a lot of road-side finds for my studio… but I’m thankful for my finished space. However, after seeing your WorkBox and your desk… I just melted. OooOOOoooh and I cannot overlook your sewing machine cabinet ~ lovely. I wish you many happy and creative hours in there.

    I LOVE the room! We just swapped out my craft room space and my daughter’s playroom space so now I have way more natural light and its fabulous! I also have a crib spring in my craft room… however, at the moment it is just leaning up against the wall on a table. I haven’t quite figured out how to hang it because it is so heavy. Any suggestions? We have old plaster walls… :-)

    • 403.1

      Hi Amanda, Sorry for the slow reply! My hubby used wire and then wrapped the wire around screws in the wall to hang the crib spring. Its held like a charm! Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your new craft room :)
      happy crafting,

      Hi Lori,
      We hung the crib spring with wire and screws in studs. We wrapped the wire around the crib spring and then around the top part of the screws. It is very sturdy and doesn’t move an inch! Thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you again soon!
      happy crafting,
      Linda

    I have always been a “place for everything and everything in its place” kind of person – I would just be in heaven with these craft storage solution pieces. Very jealous.

    I am in the process of taking an old oak china cabinet and converting it into a craft storage unit – hope to be getting it transported and finished by the end of next week.

    What a beautiful room! It truly looks like something out a design/organizing magazine. I would show you my peg boards, bins and cubbies but I’m afraid it would make you shudder. Are you naturally neat and crafty or did you have teach yourself (either or both). Have a wonderful day.

    Just stumbled upon your blog, and I am SO glad I did! I am swooning over your craft room. We just moved into our house, so the craft room I have claimed is currently our “catch all.” I LOVE the stenciled wall… I might have to give that a go!!

    Nina-Marie says:

    I like the way you hang your fabric – that would be great for quilters who could hang projects in process. Now that said – let me tell your fabric collection would be a starter set compared to most veteran quilters I know – I’ve been quilting 20 yrs and I have a 10 by 12 room that houses my fabric stash. Oh and that’s after I sold off a quarter of it because my tastes have changed!

    Will you adopt me so I can live in your craft room? (It doesn’t matter that I am a hundred years older that you does it?) Love it. The Original Scrapbox items are awesome and I want all of them. I also love the hanging fabric and the painted babycrib frame. You rock!
