Craft & Hobby Association trade show

Happy Monday!! errr I mean WEDNESDAY! Sorry to be mia for a couple days. I was in California at the Craft and Hobby Association trade show. {its where all the craft companies come show off their new products} And yes, I had a blast!! I met up with some of my best bloggy friends and we had a fun girl weekend full of giggles and very little sleep.

I did a quick post on Sunday about a HUGE exclusive CHA Silhouette discount code {which is still valid! you can use code: CRAFT to score big} today I am sharing the complete CHA run down with more pictures, details, and the skinny scoop on some new crafting tools that will be coming out soon :)

ugh, I forgot to number the pics. sorry! Jet lag + lack of sleep and the numbers on this collage did not happen. oops.

{top left} Me with Heidi from Sew.Craft.Create. We’ve been bloggy friends for over a year now and finally got to meet in person. Heidi is hilarious!!

{top right} LOVED this ABC wall. I can’t remember which booth it was, I know it was a scrapbook company….if anyone remembers, please let me know so that I can give them credit for their fab display!

{bottom left} Heather from Whipperberry crafting it up at the Silhouette booth. We embellished cute gray bags with Heat Transfer for Silhouette’s make and take. {and for the record, it was one of my fave make and takes!!} and I should have taken a pic of my bag. darn it. Maybe I’ll have to do that for another post.

{bottom middle} my official CHA media pass. wahoo!

{bottom right} one of the gazillion airplane pictures I took for my 3 year old. he loved it!

Lifestyle Crafts booth

look, I remembered my numbers on this collage!

1. this nifty tool is called the QuikStik and is one of Lifestyle Craft‘s most popular tools. Its sticky on one end to pick up small pieces like rhinestones and then the other side is create to use with die cuts. Thinking I need one.

2. Lifestyle Crafts *just might* be coming out with an awesome new tool called the Evolution… soon!!!

3. I got the meet Julie from Lifestyle Crafts for the first time. {we email all the time} She’s super cute and showed us all the fun new products they are coming out with. Like a better cutting platform THAT IS MAGNETIC so the dies cling to it and a cutting mat that doesn’t curl {!!!!}. um, seriously brilliant. can’t wait to get my hands on them!

TIP: Julie told us a really neat trick to flatten out those curly cutting mats: Put your cutting mat in an oven heated to 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 minutes. Then cool laying flat and it should be nice and flat again. I’m SO doing this!!

4. Letterpress ink in all colors of the rainbow. {taste the rainbow, anyone? haha}

***don’t forget: 20% off Lifestyle crafts products with promo code: CRAFT! They have some great new dies they just released. I’ll be posting craft ideas with the new dies!***

CHA show

1. I got to meet Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza at the Plaid booth. yay!! Cathie is a real sweetheart. {left to right: Heather from Whipperberry, Kristyn from Lil Luna, Cathie Filian, Steve Piacenza, dorky me, Heidi from Sew.Craft.Create, and Jamielyn from IheartNaptime.

2. loved these slip covered chairs! I’m not sure if they were crocheted or knitted, but they totally rocked!!

3. cute ideas from Lifestyle Crafts booth.

Silhouette Discount

discount

From the reactions I got on Facebook, you guys are just as excited about the NEW *bigger cutting mat that Silhouette announced at CHA!!* The new mat measures 12″x24″, so it DOUBLES the length of the standard CAMEO cutting mat and opens up larger craft sizes {this is huge!! no pun intended} The new mat is available starting today {some of you asked for a reminder}.

****added later: I was told the mats would be available starting Feb. 1, but I must have been mistaken. I have emailed Silhouette about it and will update you on when it will be available. And don’t worry, I’m just as anxious to get my hands one too!!***

And right now with the exclusive CHA discount, you can get 40% off all Silhouette products {except CAMEO & gift cards} and 25% off download subscriptions!! use promo code: CRAFT {valid until 2/3/12} yes, you can snag the new mat for 40% off right now!

And did you know that Silhouette has Chalkboard vinyl? or I am the last person on the planet to learn that?? I am so coveting some right now. must.get.chalkboard.vinyl. asap. {its under Premium vinyl if you’re looking for it}

    oh awesome!! would i rather wait for the lifestyle crafts stuff instead of the silhouette? i want to use it for paper stuff, and to cut fabric so i can learn how to quilt and maybe applique…but who doesn’t love bling!! so the rhinestones sound great! can you help me break it down…which would be better for me?
    you look super cute in your pics!! xo!

    I’m kicking myself everyday that I didn’t take advantage of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal that made the Cameo $179!! I’m holding out til it is on sale like that again, or until a coupon is offered that brings it below $200.. It was SUCH a teaser when I saw this post!! I got all excited, adn then saw the 40% off coupon *EXcludes** the cameo! Til then, Im off to I will have to keep myself busy with mundane things like beading, and whipping up these babyblankets on my BL Evolution! ;)

    slip covers probably not crocheted — that would be a LOT of work that would take a L-O-N-G time to do — there are machines that knit (crochet is always hand work) BJMc

      Thanks for stopping by, Betty! I did not know there were machine that knitted! how interesting! They had a tree that they completely covered with crochet {I saw them working on it, so I know that was crocheted}
      happy crafting,
