Happy Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend.
Halloween Pillow
Did you pull out your Halloween decor over the weekend? I started pulling the boxes down from the attic, so I’m hoping to get our home all decked out this week. yay!! Halloween is such a fun holiday to decorate and craft for. And as you know, I’ve been doing Halloween Crafts for a few weeks now!! {Blood Cupcakes, Apothecary Jar Labels, Polka Dot Witch Hat, Boo Bucket, DIY Apothecary Jars}
Here is my latest Halloween craft idea!
I made these 2 awesome Halloween pillows for this year and totally love them! I’m decorating with lots of colors and bold prints for Halloween this year. {remember my polka dot witch hat?} LOVE me some polka dots! The orange and white polka dot fabric went so perfectly with the black chevron.
Halloween Pillows
The Trick or Treat pillow was really fun to make and turned out looking amazing! Love the intricate detail of the design came through nicely with the fabric ink.
Now this pillow didn’t always look like that….
I made a pillow cover for this Target pillow that I got on clearance for cheap. {note the stain} It was the perfect candidate for a pillow makeover!
How To Make the Trick or Treat Pillow
- First, I cut the black chevron fabric to the size needed for my pillow slip cover.
- I used my Silhouette Cameo and cut out a rounded rectangle out of green fabric {for a complete tutorial on how to cut fabric with a CAMEO}
- Then I used my Silhouette CAMEO to create the ‘trick or treat’ stencil with vinyl.
- Then painted Silhouette’s fabric ink {love that stuff! so easy to work with and looks fantastic} over the stencil. One coat with a couple touch ups and it was good to go! {for a complete tutorial on how to use fabric ink, click here}
- Once the stenciled Trick or Treat wording was dry, I sewed the green fabric onto one of the black chevron pillow case pieces. {the fabric had interfacing on the back of it from being cut with the Silhouette}
- Then I sewed purple ric rac around the edge of the green fabric and made sure to finish the edges of the ric rac by tucking them under and sewing over.
- Then I finished sewing the chevron fabric into a pillow cover as normal.
**** I used this pillow with a border tutorial to sew my orange polka dot pillow****
So those are the 2 pillows I sewed for Halloween this year! What do you think? Do you like the big, bold prints for Halloween?
happy crafting,
Linda
