If you follow along on Instagram, you probably saw that I went to Hawaii a couple weeks ago. Well, besides basking in the Hawaii sun, slurping Dole Whips, and eating as much fruit as humanly possible, I did work…..
Ok, ok, so it was pretty laid back and much more like a vacation….but technically, it was a business trip ;) The reason my friend, Cindi and I jetted off to Hawaii was for the first Silhouette Summit to unveil a bunch of new products. As in 88! It was quite the event!!
Check out some of my favorite NEW SILHOUETTE PRODUCTS and TOOLS that were just announced this spring!
Silhouette Mint Custom Stamp Maker
Silhouette Mint :: The Mint is a game changer in the stamping world! This tiny machine, that fits in your hand, works miracles. {or so it seems} Weddings, parties, announcements, paper scrapbooking and planners will NEVER be the same again! With the Mint, you can design your own stamp in Silhouette Studio and then make it in a matter of minutes. Boom.
Let me spell this out. With the Silhouette Mint, you can create any TEXT, PHOTO, IMAGE, SHAPE, ETC into a Stamp. Get out!! Yes, you can turn a PHOTO into a STAMP!!! Are you thinking what I’m thinking??! Holy customized wedding announcements batman! Or a completely custom stamp for your son’s 7th birthday party complete with his adorable mug shot. Or make a stamp with your daughter’s name for her school supplies and books. Or branding/packaging for your Etsy shop now made easy. There is so much you can do with a customized stamp!
Now it gets even better! You can make the stamps MULTI-COLORED with the Mint. Yup, you can put as many colors on them as you’d like! And you can control where the colors go. No, more guessing and messing around with different ink pads trying to get a two toned stamp look. No, you will be in complete control of where the colors go on the stamp. Ridiculously awesome, right?! I got to try it out. Check out my Instagram using the Silhouette Mint.
I’m really pumped out the new Silhouette Mint!
The Silhouette Mint will be available Fall 2015.

Silhouette Curio the Ultimate DIY Machine
Silhouette Curio :: Now hold on before you go and sell your Silhouette CAMEO! Let’s just get this out of the way. The Silhouette Curio DOES NOT REPLACE THE CAMEO. Nope, they are completely different machines.
The Silhouette Curio is a Companion to the Silhouette CAMEO.
The CAMEO still has the most cutting power and largest cutting size. The Curio is more of a specialty machine. It does A LOT OF DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES and finishes. The Curio can Emboss, Stipple, Etch, Sketch, and Cut. {see my Instagram of the unveiling} And it can multi-task and do 2 things in 1 pass. It is a very powerful and versatile crafting machine.
Silhouette raised the cutting allowance so that you can now work with tons thicker mediums.
The Silhouette Curio opens up a lot of new possibilities and gives you a way to work with new mediums in a way you never could before!
The Silhouette Curio will be available Fall 2015.

The Curio has my DIY wheels spinning with the possibilities!!! As a business owner the Mint also looks fabulous for logo stamping, etc!
Both are going to be so awesome!!! I agree, the Mint is going to be perfect for business owners.
WOW, they have really stepped up the game! Those are wicked cool! I know it would take me a long time to get use to them. But they are pretty amazing! I can’t wait to see what you create with them…since I know I won’t ever be able to afford one! Mint would be super cool for my classroom!
I’m super excited about them too! I think the Mint is going to be huge! Don’t worry, I’ll do plenty of giveaways. ;)
The Curio!
Its going to be awesome! Love all the different things you can do with it!
Maybe you should host a big giveaway?!?! I cant wait to try that!
I agree! Its already in the works! ;)
i’m so excited to try out the Mint. And I totally want to do a glow in the dark Batman t shirt!!!
Me too! The Mint is going to be so awesome! :)
I’ve been shopping for a crafting machine for weeks and I’m doing my best to hold out for the Curio.
I’m planning our wedding for next June and I have SO many projects to complete… the Curio would be awesome for all of my DIY décor & invites !!! I wish they would put an official date on the release.
I just heard today that the promotional Curios just arrived at their warehouse, so it could be soon! yay!
Can you explain more about why the Curio does not have as much cutting power? I’m always frustrated with my Cricut not being able to cut detailed images or the mat being too sticky. It can cut 8.5 x 12, right?
Hi Christy,
As far as I know, the Curio has more power than all other cutting machines currently on the market. Cricut machines are known to not be able to cut intricate details. Silhouette machines are a lot more precise. And yes, the Curio cuts 8.5″x12″. The Silhouette Cameo cuts 12 inches x 10 feet. If you are looking to do bigger projects, you may want to consider a Cameo. :)
Which is better for small business in doing vinyl projects. .card making …. sticking things onto wood projects etc. .
If you’re planning to mainly cut vinyl, then you’ll probably want the Cameo. The Curio does other specialty things like stipple and it has to have a cutting mat which limits how large your projects are to the size of the cutting mat. Hope that helps!
Thanks for getting back to me Linda
..does the curio do vinyl as well? I’m not wanting to limit just vinyl but would like to do other stuff as well .. just very confused between the 2
Yes, Curio can cut vinyl. But will only cut up to 8.5″ x 12″ size.
Hello!
I am looking to buy my first machine and am loving the Curio! What is the big difference between the Cameo and Curio??
The Curio is a specialty machine that can do lots of different things like stipple, emboss, etc and can work with lots of different materials like wood, metal, etc. But it requires a cutting mat. So it can only cut 8.5″x12″. The Cameo is better at cutting and can cut 12 inches wide by 10 feet long and does not require a cutting mat. So they do slightly different things. It depends on what you plan to do the most. If you want to cut really big vinyl decals or do really big projects, the Cameo may be better for you. If you like to do lots of different things and use different mediums, then the Curio might work better for you. Does that help?
I’ve been wanting to make the splurge on a cutting machine for a while now and the Curio sounds like the most bang for your buck as far as versatility even if it is a little smaller. Did they happen to give you an idea of what actually comes with the machine and how much would have to be purchased separately to use the additional functions? Momma needs options! *points to self, looking hopeful*
Thanks!
Hi there. I’m new to the silhouette crafting machines and i would like to know before i go and buy a new machine for christmas, if silhouette are going to bring a new machine out soon… i would really appreciate it you could let me know thanks.
They rolled out 2 new machines this year, so I highly doubt they’ll have a new one for awhile. Let me know if you have any more questions! I’ve used Silhouette tools for 6 years and stand by them.
The curio would be so amazing…I’d love to try it for a week :) I bet I couldn’t live without it.
If I could I would buy them all but that’s a big investment for someone who is not doing craft full time. I want to start a side business doing invitations, cards and possibly a few things with vinyl. But I am not sure if I should start with the Cameo or the Curio. Initially I was thinking the Cameo for sure but the main issue is that it doesn’t emboss which is a huge thing for me. The Curio also seems great if I want to branch out into new things.
What are your thoughts?
The Curio does specialty things that the Cameo cannot do. But the Cameo can do bigger projects and is not limited to the cutting mat like the Curio is. If you like to emboss or do stippling, etc like the Curio can do, then definitely get a Curio!
