Striped Christmas Stockings

happy monday! yep, its THE LAST monday before christmas. yikes. {cue: panic attack. ugh} but i did check on more project off my list for christmas this year….i finally made Christmas Stockings! {yes, that was what was missing from our Christmas mantel} as in, this has been on the list for years, but every christmas seems to come and go and i never get them done. well, i was determined to not let it happen again this year. i was tired of the mismatch, ugly store bought ones we have.

so check out our spiffy new *Striped Christmas Stockings!*

christmas stockings

you may notice there are only 2 stockings….and there are 4 in our family. yup, i still have 2 more stockings to sew this week. but hey, i got the 2 most important stockings done for our little guys. {if there’s no stockings for santa to leave davis and i lumps of coal, meh. ;}

diy christmas stockings

i think the stripes are perfect for christmas! love them.

green stripe fabric

i found this home decor fabric at ikea last summer for another project {will be posting on it soon, so stay tuned!} i had quite a bit left over so this was the perfect use for the scraps. and i loved the heavier fabric for the stockings. makes them sturdy and hold their shape very nicely.

christmas mantel with stockings

so this is what my mantel now looks like with stockings. it finally looks finished to me! yay.

-do you live in Virginia? if so, i’d love to meet you!!

    Your stockings are adorable! I made stockings for my boys a few years ago and after making three for them I decided that my hubby and I really did need stockings:)

    Do you have a template or pattern you followed? I’ve been searching for stockings and have decided I’m going to have to sew them also.

      Hi Makinzee,
      I used a store bought stockings for the template {traced around it about 1/2″ wider} and then adjusted it to be skinner in the leg because I didn’t like how fat the leg was. I’m sure you could do the same thing pretty easily! thanks for stopping by!

    For my Christmas crafting I’m tatting a few more snowflakes and angels, and making a bunch of wool dryer balls for presents. I wish I had time for more this year.

    Cute stockings! I am also a little freaked out about it being the last Monday before Christmas. I still have to make a blanket, some totes, and a mini scrapbook album. Hopefully I can get it all done in the next few days!
