Sprinkle Kindness Lesson with Free Printables

We are getting ready to go Back To School next week {do I hear angels singing?! ha!} Before the kids go back to school, I wanted to remind them how important Kindness is. Here is a quick Lesson on Kindness for kids or teens that involves sprinkles and donuts! Needless to say, it was big hit! :)

I was preparing a Family Home Evening Lesson for Back to School {Don’t know what Family Home Evening is? Check out this post!} and I thought kindness would be a good Back to School Family Home Evening lesson. Kindness at home and at school is so important and it was a good time to remind the kiddos as they start the new school year.

I am also an Activity Days leader at my church where I plan activities for girls ages 8-11. I plan to use this lesson for our next activity in September. It counts for the Love One Another Faith in God Requirement. So this is a very versatile lesson plan!

Sprinkle Kindness Lesson

This is a brief lesson plan that can be adapted for Young Womens, Activity Days, or Family Home Evening.

Song: Kindness Begins with Me or A Special Gift is Kindness

Scripture: “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” –Proverbs 31:26

  • Why should we be kind to others?
  • Who should we be kind to?
  • How can we show kindness?
  • If you see someone being unkind, what can you do?
  • Share examples of kindness you have seen recently- could be in your family, neighbors, or news stories.
  • How do you feel when you have been kind to others?
  • Talk about ways we can show kindness to others- smile, hug, kind words, compliments, helping, serving, including everyone, making a new friend, etc.
  • Have them share times they have shown kindness and how it made them feel.

Activity: Hand out little packets of sprinkles using the printable bag topper {see below}. Decorate donuts with Frosting and Sprinkles and then eat them, of course! :)

The bag toppers are easy to make!

Print the Sprinkle Kindness Printable Bag Toppers. I used my Canon TS9020 to print on Matte paper. The TS9020 prints beautiful colors!

Trim the bag toppers. I like to use a rotary cutter, but scissors work fantastic too.

Then pour sprinkles into Snack size plastic bags and zip closed. Fold bag in half and then hot glue or staple the bag topper to the top.

This is a fun {and tasty!} way to teach kids about kindness! I hope you use this idea and free printables to spread more kindness in your community. If you have tips or ideas or want to share how you taught this lesson, please leave a comment below!
