Have you decorated for Spring? It still feels like winter here, so I needed a little something to get me in the spring mood. This little Spring Wreath was just the trick! Its simple, pretty, and cheap to make. Just my style!
Spring Wreath
Bluebirds LOVE building nests on our front porch {last year we had 5 bluebird nests!} so of course, I had to incorporate a nest and eggs into my Spring Wreath! Add in some pom pom flowers and a cute washi tape bunting and I am seriously loving my wreath! The ruffly pom pom flowers are so fresh and pretty. They add a nice soft texture to the wreath. You can see previous years’ spring wreaths here and here. I found cute little plastic robin eggs for my tiny nest. I chose to use 3 eggs since I have 2 boys and a baby on the way!
Washi Tape Bunting
Washi Tape buntings are all the rage right now! What’s not to love about these adorable, easy to make buntings that go on about….anything?!! If you haven’t made one, use my quick tutorial below and whip one up today!
How to Spring Wreath
supplies: wreath form, teal fabric, white fabric, rotary cutter {optional}, hot glue, bakers twine or string, white felt, scissors, washi tape, mini nest, mini plastic eggs. 1. Cut the teal fabric into 2″ wide strips and hot glue around the wreath form at an angle. Secure with hot glue at the beginning and end of each strip. When one strip ends, over lap it with the next strip and continue wrapping until completely covered. How to Make Pom Pom Flowers 2. Cut the white fabric into 4″ squares. You’ll need approx. 15-18 squares per flower. 3. Fold one white square of fabric into fourths. {fold in half, then fold in half again so that its in the shape of a square again}. Hold the bottom corner with the edges of the fabric away from your fingers, as shown. 4. Using your scissors, round off the edges of the fabric. 5. Cut a small circle of felt {about 2.5″} and hot glue the rounded piece of fabric to the felt. 6. Repeat Steps 3-5 until you’ve gone around the felt circle. And it looks like this. 7. {not shown} Fill in the center of the flower with more pieces until the flower looks full to your liking. Then hot glue each flower to the wreath form along with the nest and eggs.
How to Make Washi Tape Bunting
1. Tear off approx. 2″-2.5″ pieces of washi tape. Put the bakers twine across the center of the sticky side of the washi tape. 2. Fold the washi tape over on top of itself so that sandwiches the bakers twine in the middle. 3. Grab your scissors and fold the tape in half and snip off the bottom to get either a pointy bottom or inverted point bottom, like mine. 4. Repeat Steps 1-3 until your bunting is the length you want. {I used 5 different rolls of washi tape for my bunting, but you can do however many you’d like.} 4. Tie one end of the bakers twine into a bow and then hot glue the bunting onto your wreath putting the untied twine end behind the pom pom flowers. There you have an easy spring wreath that looks stunning! Perfect for your front door, mantel, or decorating in your home. I’m so glad you stopped by today! If you liked this wreath, PLEASE SHARE IT!
