Spring Wreath + Tutorial

Happy Tuesday, Crafters! I can’t wait to show you the Spring version of my Interchangeable Wreath. It turned out so stinkin cute!

spring wreathI will admit, I had a difficult time deciding the right color combo for the felt flowers. So I posted a picture on Instagram, but got some great feedback and suggestion. Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help. It turned out perfect!

felt flower wreathThe green polka dot grosgrain ribbon totally makes the wreath.

felt flower craftLove these felt flowers! They add texture and depth to my burlap wreath base. And they are cheap and really easy to make. As in, you’ll be done in minutes.

How to Make a Cut Felt Flower

supplies: 9″ x 12″ felt sheets, hot glue, scissors, rotary cutter {optional}, button {optional}, clips

felt

  1.  Cut 3 pieces of felt to be 1.5″ x 12″. I used a rotary cutter, but you could easily use a pair of scissors.
  2. Fold one piece of felt in half.
  3. Run hot glue along the edge in the center of the felt to hold it in place. {felt should measure approx .75″ x 12″} Repeat Steps 2 & 3 with the other 2 strips of felt.craft
  4. Using a sharp pair of scissors, make .50″ long cuts .25″ apart from each other along the rounded edge of each felt strip. Try to make the cuts as uniform as possible, but if you get off a little, its not the end of the world :)
  5. Cut a 3″ diameter circle of felt out of your left over felt sheet. TIP: I like to cut a 3″x3″ square and round the corners.  That’s the easiest and quickest way for me to cut a circle.
  6. Starting on the outside and working your way to the center, hot glue your cut felt strips from Step 3 around the circle with the loops to the outside. Let the first layer overhang the felt circle so that only non-cut portion of the strip is attached to the circle. {your felt flower will measure approx 4″ in diameter when you’re done.}felt flower
  7. When one strip ends, start with the next cut felt strip and wrap around until you complete your flower. You may have a little extra length, if so, trim it off.
  8. Hot glue a hair clip to the back so that you can clip it onto your Transitional Wreath.
  9. Hot glue a button to the center of the flower. {optional}

So easy! And you can make them for pennies each. felt flower wreathThe bright, happy spring colors look so pretty on my black front door. The punch of color is perfect. And…… I’m still dying over how cute those polka dots are! love.

happy crafting,

linda
