Simple Valentine Wreath

Happy Monday, crafters! If you’re looking for a simple, but gorgeous Valentine wreath, this is the wreath for you! It uses supplies you have on hand and easy techniques to create a stunning look. I got loads of compliments on it when I posted my Valentine’s Day mantel last week!

Valentine Wreath

I seriously love how sweet and feminine this wreath is without scramming Valentine’s Day. {is it me or is some Valentine decor a bit….cheesy?} And the felt rosettes are sooooo pretty! I love making fabric rosettes all the time, but felt rosettes were easier and I think they look fab! This might surprise you, but this was my very first yarn wreath. {yes,I finally jumped on the yarn wreath bandwagon!}

Yarn Wreath

supplies: wreath form, yarn {I used 2 different colors}, hot glue gun

yarn wreath

1. I used red and pink cotton yarn, hot glued the ends to the back of the STYROFOAM wreath form, then wrapped the 2 yarns around and around until the entire wreath form was covered.

TIP: I did spray paint the wreath form pink before I applied the yarn, but I don’t think that was necessary. None of the styrofoam shows through, so save yourself a step and skip the spray paint!

2. After the yarn was on, I hot glued an off white lace doily over the yarn. To do this, I put small dots of hot glue on the corners of the doily and adhered to the wreath. {Don’t forget to use this hot glue trick to get rid of your glue strings!}

Felt Rosettes Tutorial

supplies: red felt by the yard, green felt, rotary cutter or scissors, hot glue gun.

Super cute felt flower tutorial!

1. Cut 1″ x 28″ strip of felt.

2. Fold the felt in half.

3. Roll the felt a couple times.

4. Start twisting the felt around to make “petals”. {just like fabric rosettes} I twist the felt towards the center of the flower, but either direction works fine.  I made 3 felt rosettes for my wreath.

*Here is a fantastic rosette video that shows you how to make rosettes that are very similar to these felt rosettes.

5. Cut 2 small ovals of green felt for leaves. {felt scraps are perfect for these}

6. Hot glue the leaves onto the doily and then glue the rosettes on top.

Isn’t it so pretty? And its so easy to make! To hang my Valentine wreath over my mantel, I used a thick red ribbon.
