Ruffled Monogram Pillows TUTORIAL {Guest Blogger: Sada Lewis}

Hi there fellow Craftaholics! My name is Sada and I’m a Craftaholic :) I’m a lover of photography, graphic design, crafting, and now decorating our new house. To follow my adventures check out my blog here!
And now on to the tutorial!
1.5 yards – Target (Heavy Canvas) Fabric
1/4 yard – Wonder Under
4 – 12 inch pillow forms
Fun fabric for your letters
Since the pillow forms are 12in x 12in, I played around with the font sizes on my computer so that each letter was between 6-7in tall. Then I printed the letters and cut them out.
Iron on a small square of wonder under to each piece of fun fabric you plan to use for your letters. Make sure the square of wonder under is big enough to cover each letter.
After you iron on your wonder under, trace and cut out each letter.
Now take your canvas bottom weight fabric and cut out 13×13 inch squares. You will need 2 per letter, so I cut out 8 for my four letters.
Now on to the ruffles! I cut out 3 inch strips of the bottom weight canvas fabric. I originally cut mine 26 inches long, but I ended up shortening them later. You can probably make them closer to 18-20 inches long.
For my machine, I put the tension at 9 and the stitch length at 5.
I laid out each letter and ruffle on the 13x13in square to make sure the placement was consistent for each pillow. Then I ironed on the letter and stitched around the edges. (PS – Be sure to switch your machine back to its normal settings after you make the ruffles!)
Stitch on your ruffle and now just finish out the pillow like you normally would.
Voila! You have custom pillows!
Feel free to email me with any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. You can find my email here.
Thanks so much for having me Linda!
