I’m pretty sure all of you have eaten a cake pop before, right? You’ve probably even made them yourself too.  I have to say that I like brownie pops even better! So if you haven’t tried one you’re in for a treat!

How to Make Brownie Pops

What you’ll need:

  • Brownies
  • White candy melts
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Red and Blue sprinkles or sugar crystals*

Bake up a pan of brownies {about any recipe will do!} and let cool.  Trim the edges (and go ahead and eat them–they’re good, right!)  Cut the rest of the pan into 20 pieces.  Form each piece into a ball…smoosh is a good word to use here.  You don’t need to even add any frosting or anything.  The brownies will hold together quite nicely.

Melt your candy melts and put a little on the end of each lollipop stick. Press a stick into each brownie ball.  Let the candy on the stick set

Twirl the lollipop for about a minute to prevent drips then dip the top into red or blue sugar.  Set in a foam block, cake pop stand, or just lay on a piece of wax paper while they finish setting. You can also put them on top of a single candy melt to get a nice flat surface.

Now, here’s the part where I admit to you that they’re not perfect!  I haven’t been able to make them totally round.  What?  A blogger who makes–and then posts pictures of–imperfect pops?  But you know what, they’re tasty, and that makes up for it.  Plus, I’ve made brownie pops a few different times (dipped in melted Andes mints, yum!)  and my best tip is that adding sprinkles will cover up all kinds of imperfections!

Ok, back to our pops.  For presentation, lay out on a tray or pack into a painted jar that’s been dressed up with washi tape.

 How to Make Colored Sugar

*You can make your own colored sugar by putting 2 drops of food coloring and 1/4 cup of white sugar into a bag and mixing it up until it’s all blended.  It will look a little lumpy at first, but keep working it in and it will look great!

Does this make you want to sign up to bring dessert to your BBQ on Thursday? And out of curiosity, have you made cake pops before?

Thanks for stopping by!
