Now that spring is almost over, I decided to give 2 of my pendant lights a quick spruce up and spring cleaning. I wanted to lighten and brighten the room a bit….
First I wiped off all the dust and grime {ew} from the top of the pendant light {shade?} and the metal fixture. Its crazy how dirty lights get in 1 year! Just removing the grime made the lights so much brighter! amazing.
Then I replaced my incandescent bulbs with GE Energy Smart CFL bulbs to save money and save electricity. The bulbs I chose have the GE Spiral on the inside a round bulb. Which I thought was really cool and looks tons better! {i’m not crazy about the spiral look…}
That is one clean and bright light! Looks pretty snazzy, doesn’t it? {do you see the shine on the top?}

I love that the new bulbs will help me save money throughout the year and they last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. Switching your bulbs is a small way to help the earth and your pocketbook!
I calculated that just by switching these 2 bulbs to Energy Smart CFL’s, I will save $72 over the life time of the bulbs. wow! You can find out how much you’ll save using this handy tool.
TIP: One easy way to switch over to Energy Smart CFL bulbs is when an incandescent bulb burns out, replace it with an Energy Smart CFL bulb. That way you only buy a couple of the energy efficient bulbs at a time and don’t have to spend a lot of money all at once.
