Paper Earrings

I wanted some cute colorful earrings that were light weight, so about a year ago, I made my first set of paper earrings! Since that was a while ago, it was time to come up with some new designs. So you guys get to see my next batch of paper earrings first!

What’s great about these earrings, is that they’re not hard to make, they’re super lightweight, and they’re totally customizable.  You could have a pair to match every single color in your closet!

Here’s how to make Paper Earrings:

SUPPLIES

  • Digital cutter and whatever program you use to run it.  {I happen to have  Black Cat Cougar and use Make the Cut  ***if you don’t have a digital cutter, you could use different paper punch shapes.}
  • Cardstock
  • Glossy Accents (about $5)
  • Earring Hooks (about $3 for a package)

Download the svg file from the link found at the end of this post. Open in your software program and cut with your machine.  Cover each earring with Glossy Accents and let dry overnight (or at least a few hours).  The Glossy Accents will look a little cloudy at first, but it dries clear. If any of the Glossy Accents spilled over the edge, you can carefully trim it with scissors or an exacto knife.  If the hole for the hook got sealed, poke it gently with a pin or thumb tack over a piece of foam or cardboard.

Slide earring hook into the earring and pinch the end closed with pliers.  Then they’re ready to wear! So easy, right?!

I even designed a couple of summery sets.  Lemon slices and Popsicles!popsicle earrings

Some people have asked me about durability, and most of my pairs have lasted several months or a year!  It helps that I don’t have babies or toddlers pulling at my ears any more. And of course, we’re not looking to create heirlooms here.  But I’ve been really impressed at how they’ve held up to just wearing them.  Plus it’s easy to just make another pair if my favorite color tears!

I hope you’ll try these out get some fun ideas of your own.  And please let me know if you have any questions!
