  1. Using a rotary cutter and straight edge*, cut a 4″ x 1.75″ leather rectangle for the bow and a 0.75″ x 2″ leather rectangle for the center.
  2. Cut a 12″-13″ piece of the fold over elastic for the neck band. {my boys are little, so I did 12″}
  3. Find the center of the bow piece and then pinch the center to create a dimple as shown. Use a clothespin to hold in place.
  4. Then hot glue the fold over elastic to the back of the bow, overlapping the ends slightly. Hold the center of the bow in place and remove clothespin. Then wrap the center piece around the middle of the bow and hot glue in place as shown above.

*I could  have used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut the leather for this craft, but I opted to use a rotary since it was quicker. But my Cameo is awesome for making leather bows!

The little guys in your life will love these ties!

Leather Bow tie tutorial bow tie tutorial I love using the Fold Over Elastic for bow ties because it comes in so many colors so you can get it to match the bow. And if your boys are anything like mine, the neck band peeks out from under their collars most of the time. So having coordinating fold over elastic looks so much more polished than plain white elastic peeking out from under a collar. AND using elastic for the neck band is a whole lot cheaper than using leather for the neck band!!!

Do you know some boys that would love a leather tie?
