Handmade Valentine Ideas using Washi Tape

Raise your hand if you plan to make at least one handmade Valentine this year! I sure am! I’ve got a head start on my valentine crafting and have some cute handmade valentine packaging ideas for you today.  And of course, I’m using rolls of washi tape! {because you know i have a crazy, insane washi tape collection!} Or am I?! You’ll have to wait and find out in a second!

Okay, so I’m not good at surprises, {except this one} so I’ll just spill the beans now! Lifestyle Crafts just came out with this brand new line called Shape ‘N Tape. This revolutionary new line combines die cutting and washi tape. I know, crazy duo, right?! They have SHEETS of washi tape, not just ROLLS of washi tape! This opens up so much more that you can do with washi tape. But trust me, its totally awesome! Check out the adorable washi tape crafts I made with Shape ‘N Tape.

I added a cute washi tape bunting to a gift box for Davis. A washi tape banner is super easy to make using tape and twine or thin string!

How to make a Washi Tape Banner:

1. I used the diamond die cut in the Shape ‘N Tape line to cut out 5 little diamond pieces of washi tape with my Epic 6 die cutting tool. {note: leave the paper backing on for the next step!}

2. Then fold each diamond in half length wise.

3. Then remove the paper backing.

4. Put your bakers twine or string down the crease of the diamond and then fold over the tape. This encases the twine between the tape and secures the pennant in place! Now go add your fab new bunting to make it awesome!

Handmade Valentines Card

Okay, I love the washi tape heart! It looks so cool on this handmade valentine’s day card. And it was super easy to make! I used a heart die cut to cut out the heart, so it gave it a nice embossed edge. Small details like that totally take a card ok, to awesome!

How to make a Washi Tape Heart

I used the different washi tape dies to cut small strips of tape from the different tape sheets. {note that I cut the small stripes 2 different directions with my die cut to give me a completely new washi tape design!} Then I removed the backing, applied the strips of tape to a white sheet of paper. Then used a heart die cut {shown above} and ran it through my Epic 6 to cut the washi tape into a heart shape.

Since my heart die was a nesting die, I used them next size up heart to cut out a white heart to put behind the washi tape heart. Then I adhered them to gather, but on a solid card and added a little washi tape! So easy and now I have a cute handmade valentine’s day card to hand out!

DIY Valentine Gift Card Holder

Yes, I am guilty of gifting gift cards too! So I used this mini pocket die cut, which is the perfect size to hold gift cards, to make a gift card holder and then added washi tape and hemp twine to dress it up a bit. Gift cards don’t have to be considered a thoughtless gift if you make a holder for them!

As you can tell, I had fun using the new Shape ‘N Tape line from Lifestyle Crafts. I have to say, this is my favorite line they’ve ever come out with. They just opened up the washi tape world to a whole new level for me! Now I can create with washi tape on a very large scale and am not limited by rolls. I’d highly recommend checking out the Shape N Tape line! NOTE: You do not need a die cutting tool to cut and use the Washi Tape sheets from Lifestyle Crafts. You can use scissors, an exacto knife, or other brand of die cutting tools {like a Cameo}.
