Halloween is one of the best holidays to craft for! There are so many colors and styles to pick from. So this year I decided to go with a black and white theme for my Halloween decor. Which is really different for me! I usually do the standard orange, black, green, and purple. But I thought I’d mix things up a bit, just for fun! I’m still working on my Halloween mantel and a few other Halloween crafts. But here is a sneaky peek :)
Wood Slice Chalkboard
I made a couple chalkboard wood slices to decorate for Halloween with. They look kinda fun next to my Apothecary Jars from last year. I love the natural element the wood slices add to my black and white Halloween decor. Plus, they sort of remind me of scary trees….which is perfect for Halloween! Owls, trees, bats, they all go together.
These wood slice chalkboards are a breeze to make. And I can easily reuse them for other holidays or even just hang on the wall for everyday decor.
How to Make a Chalkboard Wood Slice
Just in case you didn’t know how to make a chalkboard….
I found the wood slices in the wood section at the craft store, painted on 2 coats of black chalkboard paint {paint the coats in different directions}. Allow to dry and then seasoned by rubbing chalk all over it. Then had fun doodling Halloween chalk art on them! Super quick and easy! That’s my style.
Do you think its too early to be decorating for Halloween? Have you started crafting for Halloween??

What craft store? I saw this on a deals site and was going to buy one. What was the cost for this? Thanks!
Hi Jenna,
I found them at Michaels. I can’t remember what they cost, but make sure you have a coupon! I am thinking it was like $7 for the smaller one and $10 for the larger one. But I could be remembering wrong! This mom brain of mine doesn’t work as well anymore. haha
take care!
