white tissue paper
printer
scotch tape
scissors
Mod Podge (Matte or Gloss)
paint brush
Krylon acrylic clear coat
black felt with adhesive backing

To help the tissue feed thru your printer, Cut out an 8×10 piece of tissue paper and scotch tape it to a piece of 8×10 card stock.2. Cut your tissue print down to 4″x4″

3. Brush a thin coat of Mod Podge over your tile and paste your photo onto the tile. Let dry COMPLETELY!
4. Once dry, put a thin coat of Mod Podge over your photo. Let dry completely.
Repeat 2 more times, making sure each coat is dry before you do another, or else the tissue will rip.
5. Once dry, seal with Kylon acrylic clear coat. I did 3 coats of this, making sure the previous coat is dry before you add another.
6. To complete the coaster, cut out a 4″x4″ piece of black felt. and attached it to the back.
Wrap up 4 coasters with some ribbon or twine and you have a wonderful GIFT!
*I’ve done this project with gloss mod podge and matte mod podge. Although completely different looks, both look fantastic.
Thank you for crafting with me! And thank you Linda for having me over!
I’d love it if you stopped by and said hello!

What a cute idea!
I like this tutorial! I have seen these coasters done many different ways… this is a great technique, can't wait to try it :)
Great simple idea. Thanks for sharing =)
I'm going to make some of these for all the grand (and great grand) parents. I think they'll love them!

i love this idea…my son loves to bang my coasters together and i hate the sound it makes…never thought to put felt on the bottom…this is such a great idea :)
I LOVE this as a gift idea! People always need coasters! Thanks so much for the great how-to, I'll be linking.
How do they hold up with condensation? I think this is a great idea, but just wondered about that. :)
Such a cute idea! I'm curious, and often not too bright, is there a trick to printing on tissue paper?
This is a great project and turns out so adorable. Just to let everyone know though….be sure that your printer can handle card stock. Not all printers will….mine didnt and I ended up breaking my printer. To be fair though…it was a horrible printer anyway!!! I learned that Vellum translucent paper works well also…and is compatible with most printers!!! So…I got a new printer and an adorable gift out of doing this project!! :0)
LOVE this idea, but having a lot of difficulty printing on the tissue paper. I’ll have to try the Vellum translucent paper instead. Hopefully that works out better!
I love this tutorial. Mine turned out great. I just used regular printer paper though because I was having a pretty hard time printing on the tissue paper. They turned out amazing with the regular paper. :)
For those that want to know how to print on tissue paper, please check on you tube and there are great tutorials by some well known designers/crafters. I tried it by taping tissue paper to card stock and it worked fine on my HP all in one printer. Now I want to try on vellum since I love the transparency/sturdiness of vellum.
I had no idea this would be so easy and fun to do. Thank you!!!
I keep getting little wrinkles in the tissue paper when I put it on the tile… are there any tricks ti keep this from happening??
Can the tiles be glazed or do do the have to be porous?
Couldn’t you just use the dishwasher safe version of midge lodge and skip the acrylic spray part? I saw a lot of tutorials that have you add some type of waterproofing after the mode pod get. Does the dishwasher safe one not work to waterproof it? I would think a dishwasher is harder on things than condensation from a drink.
