Gold Heart Elbow Patches
If you’re anything like me, I wear my heart on my sleeve…and now I can do it in style with these adorable gold heart elbow patches! I added these easy heat transfer Heart Elbow Patches to a plain white cardi in my closet to jazz it up a little. A little refashion, anyone?! And honestly, I think it turned out stinkin’ cute! This cardi is so perfect for me with my Valentine birthday and all. And yes, I know I’m a bit obsessed with adding gold hearts to everything lately! What can I say, I love hearts!
This easy craft only took about 15 minutes start to finish!
I used my Silhouette CAMEO and some of my favorite gold heat transfer from Happy Crafters for this craft. 
How to Add Heat Transfer Heart Elbow Patches
1. I put my cardi on and used tape {I prefer the washi kind ;} to mark where my elbow was in the sleeve when my arm was flexed.
2. Then in Silhouette Studio, I used the Echo Park Heart from the Silhouette library and size it to be about 3″ wide.
3. Then I loaded the gold Heat Transfer material into my Silhouette without a cutting mat and the plastic side DOWN.
4. Then I cut the hearts using the Heat Transfer setting.
5. I then weeded the design out with the hook tool. 
6. Remove the tape and place the hearts where the {washi} tape was on my sleeve keeping the heat transfer plastic side UP this time. Place a piece of scrap fabric over the top and iron for 45-60 seconds. My iron was set to the second hottest cotton setting and I did 45 seconds exactly. {see tips below}
TIPS: Press very firmly with your iron. I like to add a towel or several layers of fabric underneath the clothing to prevent the metal bars in my ironing board to make an appearance on my hear transfer.
IMPORTANT TIP: Make sure you use a timer when doing heat transfer so that the seconds are exact. I like to use the stopwatch feature on my phone.
How to Tell if the Heat Transfer is “Done” TIP: When done correctly, the heat transfer will appear to almost melt into the fabric. If it looks like it is merely “sitting” or “resting” on top of the fabric, you need to iron longer. If your heat transfer material is shiny and splotchy, you have ironed it for too long and burned it. :(
7. Allow to cool for a few seconds and then remove the clear plastic layer from your design. {be careful not to burn your fingers!}

Wow! I don’t dare say “great minds think alike” because your crafty mind is much greater. :) but I have a heart on my sleeve fabric paint tutorial I am doing at this very moment! I literally gasped out loud when I saw your project, ha ha. I love the idea to use washi to mark where the heart goes. Definitely going to try that!
