Happy Thursday, crafters! I hope you have lots of crafty plans for today.
Usually Thursdays are reserved for giveaways, but with all the giveaways last week, I thought I would do a little catching up instead today. Because I realized that I never posted about my craft room bar stools when I revealed my new digs. Darn! So I’m sharing them with you today because they’re kinda cute!
To save money while decorating my room, I gave a pair of old bar stools that we owned a face lift. {nothing beats thrifting at your own house, right?}
I upholstered them using this easy upholstering tutorial. {after adding upholstery to my dining room chairs, i got into an “Upholstery Kick” and did these stools and a bench last fall} I used 1″ thick foam and some quality home decor fabric made by Waverly in a modern floral print.
I did the corners differently than the tutorial because I finally figured out how to do the box corners. And oh my, box corners look so clean and professional! I think that’s the corner method I’m going to use for future upholstery projects. {yes, i just might already be plotting one}
If you haven’t seen my Craft Room, run over and check it out!
{Have you done any upholstery projects?}

Very cute, Linda! That fabric completely changed the look of the stools. Love the fabric and color choice!! Great makeover project!
I have round bar stools, I like these so much better. I’m going to keep my eye out for a few with this seat style!
I am loving that blue & white fabric!
Can’t wait for the post about how you pulled off those super hot box corners. Yes, it’s disturbing that I’m finding the corner treatment to be hot but that’s neither here-nor-there.
Those stools look magnificent now! I need to go and find me some project furniture!
Hi Linda! Will you please share your Box Corner method? I agree they look very professional and I’d love to learn how to do it.
Love the pattern you picked out for your bar stools. I’ve been planning to redo our bar stools but I was thinking it may be cool to do a different pattern with each stool? What do you think? Do you prefer all one color or multi?
Love that idea, Paula! Different colors would be so fun, especially with all the pretty fabrics out there, right?
thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend.
happy crafting,
linda

I am getting ready to reupholster some chairs that I have had for awhile…they need a change up….is there a video of how you do the box corners…I like those alot….
Also, the black table and stools, (the ones in your tutorial for reupholstering) are exactly what I have in my kitchen. Did you get them at Ashley furniture. I’d love to redo those too….but am afraid to mess up the stools, just in case….I love that table and chairs.
Thanks for your help with the box corners.
Barbara
How do you attach the foam bottom to the stool?
Hi Mayra,
I used a spray adhesive rated for foam. For more instructions on how to upholster a seat cushion, check out this post: http://www.craftaholicsanonymous.net/how-to-upholster-dining-room-chairs-tutorial-and-a-sneak-peak-at-my-dining-room Hope this helps!
happy crafting,
Linda

How much fabric did you need?
Its been awhile since I did this, but I think I used about 1/2 yard per chair.

Cannot find the specific directions for making your nice box corners on the stools. Am I missing the info on your site somewhere? Appreciate your help!
Do you have a tutorial on the box corners? Not sure if I overlooked it or not
I don’t, but its similar to wrapping a present…if that helps….search on youtube :)
Love,love, love it! I can’t wait to try it myself. I will attempt to do them for my counter stools at my kitchen island! What kind of foam do you use? Any particular website to purchase the materials needed? Thanks!
Hi Chara, I used the green foam from Joanns craft store. You can get the stapler and spray adhesive at any home improvement store. Good luck!
How much would you sell this stool for? I have something similar I made and want to sell it.
Where is the actual tutorial? All it shows is the before and after pic but no instructions?
The upholstery looks fantastic! I am nearly ready to do my own stools. How did you do the box corners?
