the only thing better than hosting a party, is hosting CRAFTING party! Elmer’s new Craft & Tell program is fun new effort to bring crafting and creativity into local communities by supplying free products for crafting parties all over the country. {and at the end of this post, you’ll get a chance to win 1 of 2 Craft & Tell prize packs so that you can have your own small crafting party!! wahoo!} oh and i’m sharing a Paper Christmas Tree tutorial :)
i invited 9 friends over last saturday for an afternoon full of crafting, laughter, and candy. every person got:
- Glue Spots
- pair of Exacto Scissors
- tape runner
- glue stick
- Exacto knife
- self healing cutting mat
- foam board
- gel pens
- Painters Paint Markers
- Elmers tacky glue or fabric glue
it was really fun to sit and chat with friends and create something. the theme of our craft party was “christmas”.
i designed a little paper christmas tree, in case others needed a craft idea for the supplies they were given. there were a couple different types of christmas trees that people made, a christmas ball and christmas cards! so we had quite the festive array of crafts. and now that i think about it, i should have played christmas music while we crafted. oops. sorry ladies!
want to make a super easy Paper Christmas Tree?
How to Make an Easy Paper Christmas Tree
1. take 1 sheet of 12×12 cardstock and wrap around to form a cone shape. secure in place with 3-4 Elmers Glue Spots.
2. trim the bottom of the cone so that it is straight across. {easier said than done!}
3. adjust bottom as needed so that tree stands straight {or at least appears to be straight-ish}
4. cut 1.5 sheets of 12×12 scrapbook paper into .75″ x 2.5″ strips. {double sided paper is ideal, not necessary.} using your fingers or a pen, curl your little paper strips. tip: i noticed that the lighter weight paper curled better and didn’t have little creases where it curled.
5. using Elmer’s Tacky Glue or Glue Spots, apply the curled paper strips around the cone in lines starting at the bottom and work your way to the top. overlap the rows to cover the cone the best you can.
6. take a strip, wrap it around the top and glue in place. embellish with beads, buttons, glitter, tinsel, etc.
