Craft Room
Hello, my name is Cassi. I’m from the bog Bright Forest, which is a lifestyle blog featuring, crafts, DIY and some marriage tips. My blog actually has two writers. If you stop by in Thursdays you can see my husbands posts and every now and then you will see a his side/her side post. We are so excited to be featured on Craftaholics Anonymous. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of how this space turned out.
We started with a blank slate in our unfinished basement. Once Steve finished the basics (floors, walls, etc.) I got to design. I wanted to make sure that I had enough work space for paper crafts and sewing. And another area for random crafts and our daughter’s science projects.
Steve started the room by building an 11 foot long craft table that balances on three metal file cabinets. We got the file cabinets at thrift stores. Steve used prefab white board and trim to finish the table. The left side cabinets contain all my small sewing needs and the ride side holds some scrapbooking supplies. The center cabinet is our daughter’s for all her craft needs.
We got the hutch on Craigslist for a steal. Steve and I then painted it white. I love how it shows off all the colors of the fabric. The bottom holds baskets with fabric scraps and patterns. The center table is the dining room table from my first apartment.
Finally for the decor, I wanted to have a neutral base with lots of colorful accents. So we painted shelves in rainbow colors. Our plan is to add multicolor wood chairs to the room. Right now they are painted white.
Hung from the ceiling is a collection of vintage hankies. Some of them belonged to my Great Grandmother. The last item we added was a large map on one wall to showcase where we’ve been. Another wall (not shown) is half chalk board. Our daughter and her friends love it. And that finishes out my room.
Love the buntings and the cozy feel of this great craft room. Thanks for showing off your craft room, Cassi! Be sure to stop by her blog, Bright Forest and say hi. Want to see other Craft Room Tours?
