Black and White Chevron Halloween Frame
I am in love with black and white for Halloween this year. Make it black and white chevron and I’m totally there! But chevron can be a bit time consuming to paint….unless you use FrogTape® new Shape Tape™ in chevron! Seriously, this is THE BEST way to paint chevron zig zags! Trust me. No math or calculations needed to figure out the angles and make sure you keep all the angles exactly the same. You simply apply this chevron paint tape, then paint, and you’ve got yourself some gorgeous chevron on the easy!
I made this funky little Halloween layered frame this way. It was fun and easy to make. Here’s how I did it:

Chevron Halloween Frame Tutorial
Supplies:
- black, white, and orange craft paint
- Gesso
- paint brushes
- 1 small picture frames {mine is a 4″ square}
- 1 wood plaque {mine is 12″ square}
- FrogTape® Shape Tape™ in Chevron
- wood glue
- sand paper or sander
- Gather supplies.
- Using a thick paint brush {preferably with bristles}, paint on a layer of Gesso over both the frame and wood plaque. Allow to dry for 24 hrs. Then paint the plaque white. Paint the small frame black, allow to dry. Then paint the small frame orange over the black paint.
- Apply Chevron Shape Tape™ over the plaque.
- Paint black over the chevron tape to create black chevron zig zags.
- Allow to dry thoroughly before removing the tape.
- FrogTape® has PaintBlock® technology that absorbs paint upon contact. This awesome technology helps prevents paint leaks. I love FrogTape® because you get crisp, clean lines with very minimal touch ups.
- I then used a sander to sand and distress each wood piece.
- Clean off the frame and plaque with a dry cloth to remove the dust.
- Add a picture or decorative item to the small frame. Then using the wood glue, glue your small frame to the plaque in the center. Allow to dry overnight. Then decorate with it as you want!
