candle holder turned earring holder TUTORIAL

happy monday morning! did you have a nice weekend? we did. we went swimming, shopping and played hard. i even snuck out and did a little shopping on my own for an hour or two. it was amazing what i got done without 2 little boys in tow! after our recent move, i’ve been doing a lot of thrifting trying to find things to put into our new home. and there are all kinds of new thrift stores in our new area so its been so fun exploring them. i made this lovely quatrefoil earring holder from a thrifted candle holder….

i paid $2 for this metal candle holder with the awesome quatrefoil design. {i’d never seen anything like it! this is why i LOVE thrift stores!} as you can imagine, my heart pitter pattered at the sight of this $2 beauty. so it rode home next to me.

i pretty much knew what i wanted to do with it when i saw the it, but i wasn’t sure how i’d get the top part off.  i was lucky that the welds weren’t strong and so i was able to pull off the top with my hands in a matter of minutes. i then used a hammer to straighten a couple bent sections.

gave it a new fresh coat of black paint….

{putting those moving boxes to good use! haha}

ta-da! and now i have a cute new earring holder that holds loads of earrings. sweet! cost me all of $2 and about 30 mins with drying time.  my fave part about my new earring holder, is how it is off the wall a little bit so when i poke my earrings throw to hang them, i don’t have to worry about hitting the wall. easy breezy earring hanging. wahoo.

AND who knew a candle holder would work so well as an earring holder? for reals.

currently i’m….
