Bug Party {Guest Blogger: Mindy from Creative Juice}

today i have a guest blogger, Mindy from Creative Juice is sharing a few how to’s for a fun Bug Party! ~Linda
hi. my name is mindy. and i am a craftaholic.
AND a partyaholic.
thats why my friend crystal and i started our blog: CREATIVE JUICE

we were always sharing tips, tricks, and ideas when we were planning parties
so we decided to blog about it all!
we are all about DIY . why pay when you can do it yourself?
here are some of the parties we have thrown… like the decorations?
we did them ourselves and we will show you how.
here are some of our recent parties…
and here is our princess party
but lets be honest – life is not ALL about parties…
{although we would like it to be}
so we post about other things too…
crafts with our kids, fun activities, recipes, giveaways, free printables,
and plenty of other random things :)
today i’m going to share some tips from our latest party
which is an adorable bug party
i’ll show you how we made the backdrop & favors for this party

FAVOR GUMMY STICKS

– start by picking gummys within your theme. we picked bugs of course!
– be sure to pick up some ribbon gummies – these make a cute base when you fold them back and forth at the bottom.
– i used bamboo skewers from target – use whatever you want but be sure there is a pointy end & it is not too thick or it gets sticky (no pun intended :)
– cover them with treat bags & tie ribbon off at the base

– make your stand using tape, tissue paper, and a styrofoam block

– I used a rectangular block from michaels ($2 with coupon). you could pick a different shape but be sure it is big enough to support the sticks – the gummies make it heavy.
– wrap the block like a present & stick the gummies & favor tags in

this is how they looked at the party
the favor tags can be found on our blog for FREE!
all the printables were designed by my friend telisa over at sugartot designs &

PARTY TABLE BACK DROP

this is just one of many ways to do this – but its pretty cheap!

– you will need a foam board (the largest one i found cheaply was at michaels for $4 with my coupon), and either a plastic table cloth ($1 at walmart), or fabric, & some tape

– to give it something extra i used tissue paper to create a grass scene
– tip: it was trickier than i thought… i had to use scrapbook dots for each of the grass tips & it needed to be double lined so you didn’t see through it. i would recommend using a thicker material – such as wrapping paper.
– i added little lady bug embelleshmints but if i had more time flowers & a complete scene would have been my ultimate goal… next time right? well at least you will do it right!

happy partying you craftaholics :)

Hi! I'm Linda, the craft addict behind Craftaholics Anonymous®, a craft blog. Crafting is cheaper than therapy, right? When I'm not DIYing something, I can be found taxiing around our 4 crazy kids or working out. Or shoe shopping... because you can never have too many shoes! Happy crafting! ♥
