Boys Room Makeover Reveal

I am so excited to show you how the boys’ shared bedroom makeover turned out! They absolutely love it! {see the before here} And, I think the boys room turned out so awesome! Everything went together very nicely. I love all the colors. The HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint colors were perfect.

I decided to put large stripes on the focal wall, and I am so happy I did. Because the stripes totally set the tone for this all-boy room! They are definitely bold, with a rugby feel that I love! Sort of a tough boy look. I seriously love the paint colors we used. {I say “we” because Davis helped me out! He took pity on this pregnant girl and helped me paint the room.} The colors I picked out using the Color Visualizer on the Sherwin-Williams website: SW 6527 Blissful Blue and SW 6243 Distance. They are both from the HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams line. When I went to the Sherwin-Williams store to pick up my paint, the nice associate helped me carry the paint out to my car. I liked that. Being a busy pregnant mom with my hands full with 2 small children, small things like that make a big difference.

The Before

So blah and boring. The chalky, flat contractor paint was AWFUL. Especially with little kids! They would touch it with their not-so-clean little hands and leave marks all over. And the marks wouldn’t come off. It was like a mom’s worst nightmare! The walls looked terrible. And, now that we have a third baby on the way, we needed to move the two boys into the same bedroom. So this was the perfect time to decorate it!

The After

The boys absolutely love their new room! Their favorite thing is their helicopter beds. Which was easy to do. I simply cut out a helicopter motif with my digital die cutting tool and stuck one on each of their new white headboards. Where I got Everything

Speaking of headboards, we scored the set of white twin beds on clearance at Target for 40% off. Sweet! The square frames are from Ikea. They were black, so I spray painted them white. I found the large metal letters online. The bedding was from Ikea and Target. The rug is from Target. And the small navy blue kid table was on clearance for 40% off at Target. Wall paint and painting supplies was from Sherwin-Williams. Painting Stripes This was our first go at painting stripes on a wall. But we were beyond pleased with the results! What we did: First, we painted the entire room in the lighter blue {Blissful Blue} in Satin finish.

After the 2 coats of Blissful Blue were completely dry, we used a laser level and Frog Tape Painters Tape to tape off the stripes. *Note: I highly recommend using a laser level if you’re painting stripes! Best tool ever for taking straight lines. Then we painted the dark blue {Distance} stripes with 2 coats. I won’t lie, we were both intimidated to paint stripes. But, it really wasn’t that hard, and it turned out so well! Davis and I were stoked!

There are a few more small projects I want to do in the boys’ room. But, I am so happy with how it looks so far! The stripes totally make the room awesome! Thanks for stopping by today! Happy crafting, Linda
