Valentine’s Day Ruffled Towel

Hi there, friends! Don’t laugh, but I have coveted a cute kitchen towel for, umm a very long time.  I wanted something over the top feminine and pretty in there….I mean, if I have to be stuck in the kitchen, it might as well look good, right?! {and for the record, i’m a horrible cook. just ask davis. i ruined a batch of chocolate chip cookies last weekend. ugh}  Anyways, my new Valentine’s Day kitchen towel is everything I hoped for and more!

how to make a ruffled towel

Luscious ruffles, gorgeous colors, pretty polka dots, lovely florals, umm, LOVE it!!

ruffled fabric

I used my Ruffler Foot to create the stunning ruffles. My ruffle foot spoils me. seriously. It makes it way too easy to sew even ruffles in one pass through the sewing machine. Its one of my all time favorite crafting tools! {if you don’t have one, run to the nearest craft store and grab one!}

moda fabrics

You can never go wrong with a little Moda fabric, right??

how to make a towel stay in place

I added a “Towel Leash”, or sewed ribbon with velcro on one side, to the inside of the towel to help prevent the 2 crazy boys that live here from pulling it off every 5 seconds…. Ok, well, at least deter them for a few minutes to give me a chance to stop them before it hits the floor. ha!

DIY ruffle hand towel

I meant to have a tutorial for this ruffled towel ready for you today, but I ran out of time. So I will post the tutorial tomorrow {wednesday, 2/8/12} So sorry for the suspense! It will be worth it though. In the mean time, get your ruffler foot ready and I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow!

ADDED LATER: here is the link to the Ruffled Tea Towel with Leash Tutorial!
