{happy thursday!} only 2 days until the weekend. i swear the first week of January is always seems to be the loooongest week of the year, even though its usually a short work week. how does that happen?? or maybe its just me….. ANYWAYS, i am postponing the giveaway i had scheduled for today, because i decided my new wreath for january couldn’t wait another day!
this is my Winter version of my changeable wreath. the clip system makes updating this wreath for each season a breeze! {definitely check out the tutorial} i added puffy white “snow flowers” with icey turquoise blue centers. i think it has a nice wintery feel, don’t you?
i totally love this wreath form and how i can change it up each month/season. makes it so much cheaper {and easier!} than buying a new foam ring each time. its just so easy and efficient!
these are some of the easiest fabric flowers i’ve made. although i’m not sure if batting counts as fabric…probably doesn’t, but they do have fabric centers….
Batting Flower TUTORIAL
supplies:
- batting {you don’t need much}
- coordinating fabric {scraps are perfect}
- hot glue gun
- 3 half ball button covers with mold {found in the notions section}
- scissors
- 3 hair clips
- needle & thread
1. cut three 3.5″ circles and three 2.5″ circles out of batting.
2. layer one 2.5″ batting circle on top of one 3.5″ batting circle. with the needle and thread, stitch an “x” into the center so that the 2 pieces are sewn together. pull thread tight and restitch over the “x” a couple times to reenforce. {like you would when sewing a button} this holds them together and also makes the flower have some “life” to it.
3. with the half ball button covers and the mold, cover 3 metal button forms with the fabric.
4. make sure all edges of the fabric are secured and neat.
5. hot glue a fabric covered button onto each batting flower.
6. hot glue the alligator or hair clip to the back of each flower. then clip your flowers onto your interchangeable wreath form.
so in case you didn’t notice, i’m decorating my home for winter this year with turquoise blue, white, and gray. dots and hounds tooth. i think the 2 fabrics go together fabulously! {did you see my adorable snowmen??}
