Silhouette Designer Edition Sale + Giveaway

One of the big things that sets Silhouette cutting tools apart from other tools, is the awesome software Silhouette has developed. Silhouette’s Designer Edition software beats any other digital cutter tool software out there hands down! {trust me, I know. I’ve tried others and they just don’t even compare!} Silhouette has taken years to develop this software, whereas other companies have tried to throw together editing software in months that is bug ridden and has limited editing tools. Its just not the same! Silhouette is tried and true. And they are constantly coming up with ways to improve. For example, not long ago Silhouette came out with Silhouette Connect. Silhouette Connect makes it so that users can send projects that were designed in Adobe Illustrator® or CorelDRAW® straight to Silhouette electronic cutting tool with no need to convert them to a Silhouette Studio® compatible format.

I personally love the Designer Edition software because of all the extra tools and capabilities that it offers me when I create. Like my recent Pineapple Sign. Thanks to the advanced point editing of the Designer Software, I was able to tweak the font to my liking and add long tails at the ends of words for an artistic touch. The Advanced Eraser tool was also very helpful with this design.

The Designer Edition is one of the things I highly recommend to every Silhouette owner. I think the capabilities that it offers makes the small upgrade totally worth it! Here is a table with the differences between Silhouette Studio and Silhouette Studio Designer Edition:

Silhouette Studio vs Silhouette Studio Designer Edition With the Designer Edition, you can cut SVG files. Usually if site is sharing a free cut file, it is in SVG format. The Designer Edition supports SVG files.

I was actually referred to your site from a fellow blogger and she said, “follow craftaholics anonymous because she often has codes or giveaways” and the first time I go to your site, BAM, you are doing a giveaway!! I make pallet signs, but I just make my own stencils out of cardboard boxes or freehand, but the stencils I could make with a silhouette would be amazing! If I don’t win, can I just get the portrait for $149 and be good to go or would I still need other things, software, etc?

    1. 324.1

Its great to meet you, Goldi! :) Silhouette tools are fantastic for stencils! They have the new stencil material which is thicker plastic with an adhesive backing. And you can reuse it. Definitely check it out! I think you’ll love it! The Portrait cuts up to 8″ wide, The Cameo cuts up to 12″ wide. So keep that in mind with the size of the stencils you want to make. If you like to design your own stencils, I would highly recommend upgrading to the Designer Software {which is on sale right now or you can buy it in the bundle with a machine}. It offers you a lot more editing/design tools that you will use. The Portrait comes with everything you need to use it right out of the box, including blade, cutting mat, etc. But the next time Silhouette does a 40% off everything sale, stock up on blades and mats. You’ll always need those and they tend to sell out quickly when they go on sale. Hope that helps! If you have any more questions, just let me know! I’m a huge fan of Silhouette and been using their tools for 5+ years. Happy crafting! -Linda

I love this! I am such a Psych fan and I just bought the Silhouette Cameo starter kit from Amazon’s Gold Box Deal and have been nervous to break it out! Is there any way I can get this exact decal since I am a fan of delicious favor as well?? It would be perfect for my first project!!

    1. 326.1

Hey fellow Psycho! haha Shoot me an email and I’ll send you the file :) You’ll need the Designer Edition software to be able to cut it though. Do you have it?

  28. 327

Hello Linda, i’ve plan to upgrade some plugin in silhouette studio. But i am stuck in choice between silhouette studio designer edition or silhouette connect.

Actually i prefer using coreldraw than silhouette studio it self, because, i seldom use corel than silhouette studio and corel is more flexible for me.

But i doubt that silhouette connect have some bugs, because i read some review that they can’t cut it as it should.

But if i uggrade to SSDE, i doubt that SSDE just not as my expectation about it’s fiture, eg : export to a common format file such as pdf, or dxf, svg.

    Have you any suggestion,..??

Thank You Linda. Sorry for my poor english.

    I am from Indonesia. :)

    1. 327.1

      Hi! You probably want to get Connect so you can continue designing in Corel. I have only heard good things about the Connect, but I have not personally used it. I’d recommend contacting Silhouette directly with your concerns about Connect {[email protected]}
      Hope that helps! :)
