ok, back to my “Snow” sweater pillow, which i absolutely adore!!

winter craft idea

sweater + snow= perfect winter craft! i used Silhouette’s Fabric Ink Started Kit to stencil the pillow i made from an old sweater. i really like the fabric ink starter kit. i’ve used it for G-man’s dino shirt and loved how easy it was to work with compared to fabric paints. and the kit has everything you need plus it comes with several free shapes.

sweater craft

have an old sweater or 10? well, here’s a great and very easy craft for them them!

stencil for fabric

i cut out the stencil with my Cameo and then transferred it to the sweater with the clear transfer sheet.

how to screen print

i mixed together Cian Blue and White fabric ink to create a custom turquoise color.

silhouette's fabric ink starter kit instructions

i then dabbed on the ink with the sponge that is included in the starter kit. the sponge was perfect to apply the ink on the sweater’s texture. allow the ink to dry. {this took longer with the sweater material because it absorbed a lot of ink. i got impatient so i pulled out the hair dryer to speed the process! worked like a charm}

sewing machine roller foot

i used a roller foot to sew the pillow to make sure the top and bottom fed through the sewing machine evenly as my sweater was stretchy and slick. but you could use a regular foot as well. i may or may not have just got the roller foot for christmas and wanted to try it out {wink wink}

snow craft

don’t ya just love a good “sweater texture”? i sure do!!

and in case you forgot, you can get a Silhouette CAMEO and a Fabric Ink Starter Kit for $299! valid thru Jan. 5, 2012. discount code: CRAFT
