Polka Dot Witch Hat Tutorial

Supplies:

  • paper mache witch hat from Michaels
  • DecoArt Black Gloss Enamels
  • DecoArt White Gloss Enamels
  • feathers
  • halloween ribbon
  • hot glue gun
  • vinyl {scraps work great}
  • 3/4″ circle paper punch
  1. Paint the paper mache witch hat with 2-3 coats of White Gloss Enamels. I cheated and used a hair dryer to help the paint dry quicker between coats. Make sure the paint it thoroughly dry.use for vinyl scraps
  2. Use the circle hole punch to cut circles from the vinyl.
  3. Then apply the vinyl circles to the witch hat in an even polka dot pattern.
  4.  make witch hat
  5. Paint another coat of white Gloss Enamels over the polka dots to help seal the edges and prevent the black from leaking into the polka dots.
  6. Then paint 2 coats of Black Gloss Enamels over the hat allowing to dry between coats. {again, I used my hair dryer to speed things up a bit}
  7. Remove the vinyl dots.
  8. Use a hot glue gun to apply a couple coordinating Halloween ribbons around the crown of the witch hat.
  9. Hot glue a couple feathers at the crown of the hat.
  10. Then hot glue a big bow over the ends of the feathers to complete the look and you have a cute little witch hat to decorate with this Halloween!
