Push-up Pops

4th of july push-up pops

Aren’t they just perfect for this weekend?

And trust me, these mini jello treats are delicious! red white & blue push up popsAnd to amp up the patriotic feel, I added a little red and blue washi tape to the push-up pop holder. {did i tell you i love washi tape?}

Push-Up Pop Recipe

{I adapted this recipe from my 4th of July Trifle Jello recipe.}

BLUE LAYER:
3 oz pkg blue jello {blue raspberry or berry blue}
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water

WHITE LAYER:
1/2 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup (8oz) sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

RED LAYER:
3 oz pkg of red jello {strawberry or raspberry flavor}
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
cool whip and blueberries to garnish

In a medium bowl, dissolve blue  jello in 1 cup boiling water. Stir in 1 cup cold water. Carefully spoon 2 Tablespoons of the liquid jello into each push-up pop container. Refrigerate for 1-1.5 hours or until firm.

In a sauce pan, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup cold water; let stand for 1 minute. Add the milk and sugar; heat over medium heat stirring until gelatin and sugar are dissolved. Let mixture cool for about 5-10 minutes. Whisk in sour cream and vanilla. Spoon 2 Tablespoons of the white gelatin mixture into each push-up pop over the blue jello. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.

In a medium bowl, dissolve red jello in 1 cup of boiling water; stir in 1 cup of cold water. Spoon red jello over the white layer. Chill until set, about 1-1.5 hours. Fill the remaining space in the push-up pops with cool whip and garnish with blueberries.

Makes 16 push-up pops.

    Super cute! I saw these for sale on PYP or something else recently. Did you get your push-pops there or do your kids just eat push pops often and you save them?

    Oh, how fun. I’m sure you could also make these in clear glasses or wine glasses or plastic cups, etc. and serve with a spoon.

    Hi, Just a note re paragraph 3 where you have mentioned dissolve blue jello. I know it’s meant to be red but thought you might like to amend this. Besides that small issue these sound lovely and even we Aussies can use the red, blue and white as can the French and probably a few other nations, too. It would be interesting though to change the colours/flavors as the Olympic Games draw nearer. In Australia our national colours in many sporting contests are actually green and gold so might have to give this a go with lime and pineapple or lemon jellos. Just have to think of what berries to use on top though. Thanks from Down Under..

    Hi there,
    I put the jello in and it started to leak…maybe I’m not putting the push pop containers in correctly…anyway not all of them leaked, but some did….any suggestions?

    • 16.1

      Hmm, that’s not good, Debbie! It must be your push up pops. I have 18 of them and none of them have ever leaked. You may try to return the faulty ones to the place you bought them. They are made to hold foods and liquids. So if they are leaking, somethings wrong with them. Sorry!
      thanks for stopping by!
