basket liner fix/update TUTORIAL

this is the "before" pic of my caving laundry hamper liner. here it is now:awww, so much better. and so much more functional. i did this to fix my hamper liner, but you could totally do this to update any basket liner. here's how i did it: {you'll need 1/2 yard of fabric, scissors, sewing machine, and an iron.} cut off the existing ties on your liner. measure how wide your liner is. include the width of the tie openings. then double that number. for example, mine measured 31" x 2 =62" then … continue reading

laurndry hamper liner

we bought a cheap laundry hamper at the beginning of our marriage and like the good newly wed wife i was, i shrunk the lining after the very first washing. sigh. gotta love those first "learner loads" of laundry. so needless to say, the liner has never fit the hamper. and like a good hubby, Davis has put up with this caving annoyance for over 5 years:any time the liner even saw clothes coming, it caved in. UGH. so annoying. none of the clothes actually made it into the liner, they always ended … continue reading

maternity top #3: Bubble Tank

this one i did the old fashion way.....i busted out the fabric and thread and sewed this flowery Bubble Tank myself. i don't do that often. especially since i HATE patterns... with a passion. but this top came from a tutorial, not a pattern. so it was different. but of course, i had to make it my own and changed a few things.  i used Made by Rae's Spring Ruffle Top Tutorial as a starting point and then did my own thing. i shortened the length and narrowed the bands due to my petite stature … continue reading

maternity shirt refashion #2

this is round 2. i was given this shirt during my first pregnancy from a friend, but never wore it because it is very large and had no shape. i think it looks like a scrub top.....well, after a small run in with my sewing machine and a pair of scissors, this boring maternity tee was definitely not the same.here it is on. i made it so that as the belly grows, the ruching at the bottom will bring the shirt around the belly and make it look less like a tent. here's the neckline ruffles i added with … continue reading

summer veggie pasta

we have a Farmer's Market twice a month just down the street from where we live, which i love! you never know what you're going to find. well last week, a vendor was selling homemade pasta. we bought some Spinach linguine and Tomato Basil Linguine. i then bought some zucchini and crooked neck squash from a local farmer and that night we made the best Summer Veggie Pasta ever! the homemade pasta and home grown veggies were divine! i've made this dish several times and we've loved it every time. … continue reading
